Yeah, that's my instinct too. The 'discovery period' only lasts so long for new players, anyway.
That seems perfectly acceptable. I think it'd help if we categorize a wee bit as well. Currently, the wiki has 3 different styles of pages: (in my eyes)
-Items/Blocks/Entities/Thingies
-Guides
-Encompassing Information
As for spoilers, I see it being fine if the specific block page has all raw information about it there. No holds back.
The guides pages would be an ideal place for new players to go, as well would be nice to have hints rather than spoilers in there
Current guides we have are the
How To,
Beginner's Guide and
Quick Start Guide
As for the encompassing information pages (like the
main and
Ages pages) I think they are a bit more fuzzy on what to and not include, IE: is finding a brewing stand a part of progression or a requirement of progression, as such should it be mentioned in these informational pages?

Another thing I'd like to touch on is Style. Since we are implementing most of the VMC wiki (from 1.5.2) it has come with it's own
Style Guide! However, in that style guide, there are a few sections that I believe to be fairly useless. Specifically the Video, History, Gallery, Issues so they can be ripped out of the VMC pages. (also what the hell is with the Usage crafting recipes? do people actually like those?[ie: What the item/block can be used to make])
On items that had previous pages I have tried to do quick and dirty copy paste integrations (usually I'd leave the BTW information at the top of the page, insert the red vmc banner, then paste the VMC information below that)
And an update on the 1.5.2 VMC Wiki integration, I'm about 90% done the copypasta I think. If anyone is interested in going through specific blocks and whatnot you can head over to the
VMC category and poke around. Just be sure that if you are going to make changes you
NEED to test and confirm each and every bit of trivia or fact associated with each and every block/entity/item/thingy. FC has made many changes and it's our job to properly document them to the best of our abilities.
annnnnd finally. Somewhere to have a to-do list is a great idea. I've been scribbling notes as I come across things however I think it'd be ideal if this information could be shared. As for the tagging pages to be updated you can go ahead and drop
into the top of the page and it will leave a nice banner as well it will be tracked in the
Category:Requires Cleanup\
.. However I have been working on the idea to just create a page on the wiki for those wishing to help. A bunch of links and instructions for tasks or what needs to be done specifically (basically the same as what I've puked into the page above) I just can't come up with a good name for said page. 'Help' is too generic, 'Updating' is what people will search for when looking to update their version of the mod... Ideas would be appreciated :)
Adding images to all VMC things (And checking that all BTW items have consistant and pretty images
Checking information validity
Templates (Item/Block/BlockEntity/ItemEntity/Entity)
Differences in VMC and BTW Template:Crafting
High efficency recipes need to be referenced and split out into their respective pages, from there link with page embedding ie: {{:Fence}}
Figure out how in the hell the Crafting Recipes page is grabbing just the Crafting section and embedding that rather than the entire referenced page
Template:Tc Blue is brown? See Shears
:( Wiki doesn't support .svg. Need to upload .png formats for health
Style guide, uploading files (images of blocks/items) Size, format, other considerations
Template:Block is missing all it's images
Also a place to put things I just found out like how using <onlyinclude></onlyinclude> around the Crafting section will allow us to use the {{:PAGE_NAME}} page embedding system to grab just the crafting recipe for the embedded page
