Well, I'll try and find the video again, but you may be right. However it was a long time ago, there was no 1.3 on the horizon.FlowerChild wrote:I dunno man. That sounds pretty odd considering the whole mod API thing, and both the time and money Mojang are investing in it.
Perhaps it was more in the context of wanting to get 1.3 done before tackling those things? I'm sure there are a lot of people besides myself waiting on both extended blockIDs and texture indices, but I can understand them wanting to get the SMP refactor out of the way first. My only objection is that Jeb probably shouldn't have said they were coming so long ago, as it really threw a monkey-wrench into the modding scene to have been expecting it for so long now.

I am really enjoying that as well. What would complete it for me is if there were Streams running across them occasionally. I am hoping biome placement will continue to become more logical.Ulfengaard wrote:I regularly follow this thread, but I somehow didn't see the return of beaches in the discussion. I'm really digging the more natural transition to water. I didn't even realize how much I had missed them until now.

I found the iron golem in the pic.
It seems that just the leather stuff is enchanted.

Some seem to be wearing chain armour. Just throwing that out there.

Re: Morvelaira's News Compilation
you can see some of the gold stuff enchanted as well, one just above the golem, and two in the big mass of gold helmets near the bottom, they look slightly lighter than regular gold.Elevatator wrote:I found the iron golem in the pic.

from the look of it, gold and leather are the most common types, leather is fine, since it's so weak and in the context of BTW, is only useful for glue (which is a zombie product anyway). gold is useless as armour, and only used in redstone synthesis, booster rails and lenses.
iron already omes from zombies, and BTW is balanced around that, so no problems there.
diamond isn't recyclable, but gives the best armour and tools outside of SFS, and with the rise of the new properties of SFS armour, has become the standard "day to day" armour anywhere that uses significant amounts of water. (tools are still useless compared to SFS ones though :P)
thankfully diamond seems to be incredibly rare or unavailable from zombies.
rampant speculation:

I think that this may actually end up giving zombies a LOT more variety, there will be regular zombies, zombies that have stronger attacks (swords), ones that are slightly more durable (leather/gold), ones that are MUCH more durable (iron/chain), ones with special protection (enchanted, with gold holding stronger enchants), and what could be seen as boss mobs (diamond). imagine if the ones with axes could destroy wooden doors faster.
plus, imagine if FC decided to use this system to give enemies more buffs, like a SFS battleaxe wielding zombie in full enchanted plate as a superboss :P (but didn't drop the armour, that would be stupidly OP)
(or maybe a joke mob where it's wearing the gimp suit, unable to move, and wielding a whip fishing rod :P)

If, after all of this work overhauling zombies, they STILL are unable to defend themselves against wolves, I will cry. I will weep for days on end.
What's the price of freedom now?
Can you cut me a deal?
A crate of wholesale liberty,
or a justice combo meal?

But Raust, watching one of your dogs devour a clueless Zombie never ceases to bring a grin to my face!
I think the new zombie variations is fine, but as others have said, drops should be considered for a lengthy period. I know Dinnerbone already said he thinks it would be nice if they dropped what they were wielding, but in honesty, I think the odds should be really quite rare, otherwise you'll be going from a stone sword to diamond gear in a short battle.

Ah, I see Dinnerbone's hard at work.. playing Civ 5 (around 28 seconds into the announcement, the guy with his back to the camera).
I'm sure some will have fun in Paris, but I don't have that kind of money.

Re: Morvelaira's News Compilation
I just saw that on the wiki myself. Does anyone know if it still looks like complete crap, or did they touch it up? I tried it out when I was working on the Soulforged Steel armor (I think I was even considering using the texture myself, and making the armor chain), but man...did it ever look horrible.Extreme Boyheat wrote: You can trade for it from villagers now.
One other point that I just discovered, that I'm not sure anyone has mentioned before: villages now seem to be constructed out of biome specific material. I just ran into a sandstone-based village out in the desert.

I'm surprised that nobody changed the architecture of the desert villages, they look absolutely hideousFlowerChild wrote:I just saw that on the wiki myself.
