Cute vid on relationships

Post by FlowerChild »

I just stumbled across this on youtube, thinking it might be something by Don Hertzfeldt that I hadn't previously seen. Turns out it wasn't, but gave me quite a good chuckle regardless:

That sounds... Extremely dysfunctional... I'm glad I've never been in a relationship like that.

More importantly... Who is Don Hertzfeldt?

Nice FlowerChild. I didn't /exactly/ have relationships like this, but I just kept replacing the boyfriend with a new, relatively interchangeable one between childhoods >.>

I've only had two girlfriends in my life. Including the one I'm currently married to and I've never really had something I would call a fight with either of them.

I suspect Mr. Hertzfeldt has some issues with women :)

Then I am envious man. I don't think anyone ever wants to go through that cycle...it just kinda happens :)

I think most people either break it by finding someone they really click with, or just by eventually realizing that they don't want to go back to the beginning of the video yet again ;)

EDIT: Or option 3 of course, "settling".

I feel very fortunate to be in the situation I am. I have found someone I really click with who is very kind and loving and easy to get along with (most of the time ;). And I'm someone who doesn't get angry easily. Oddly enough I tend to get more controlled when other people get emotional. So it works out very well for us. :D

Of course we've only been married for about two years so there's plenty of time for more difficulties to come up. :)

Hehe...I think that was just his funny way of saying "have an argument about random meaningless shit neither of your really cares about, but which you are using as an excuse to argue about the things that are really bothering you, but which you're too afraid to mention because you know it will end the relationship on the spot".

And that definitely happens :)

It absolutely happens. The last fight I had with my husband (the roots of which were luckily resolved) was about a towel on the counter in the bathroom.

I once had a blow-out argument about when was the correct point at which to fill the water jug me and my partner kept in our fridge to ensure neither party was filling it more than their fair share.

Do I really seem like a guy that gives a fuck about proper water-jug etiquette? :)

That's pretty much hitting the nail on the head.

Also envious of Sarudak.

Few more relapses to childhood and forward again, but yeah, pretty much.

Nice find, I'll have to watch a few more of his, love the cynical nature/

This is why I don't touch drunk ladies. You get to skip right from second childhood to enjoying being alone.

Yeah, the frying pan thing gets old quickly...

Ahhhh the shit I avoided by skipping to phase 5 and running phase 2 concurrently with girlfriend/wife.

When "arguments about a frying pan" starts, my first rebuttle tends to be "OK, this isn't what you're upset about. What are you upset about. And thankfully, 9 times out of 10 it's not me but one of her clients that's really pissed her off, she just can't yell at them because she'd be fired. (Incidentally, I find it sad that it's more acceptable to yell at your significant other than random people. You have to be nice to strangers, but can afford to be a dick to the people close to you.)

To me that is less sad than reassuring that you have someone you can trust to understand when you need to vent. The sad part is when you're using that tactic when the target really is your SO, causing the frustration to build since you're not actually communicating the problem.

Did Mr. Hertzfeldt do the 'MY ANUS IS BLEEEDING' video you showed us a while back ?
The voices and the animation seem similar to me :/
