You can use my mod to fix it: Legacy Skin Support mod
Another way to get skins working is to run a local server and point to that. Here are server apps you can use:
Java: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=9357 (Updates skins automatically, caches requests per session)
Python: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=9356 (Manually download the skins of the people you play with)
Node.js: https://github.com/blalp/replacement-fo ... in-servers (Supports skin updating automatically)
Note that you probably want to run these locally unless you really trust the server. A public IP is provided by the Node.js application for example, but the way it's set up, it's going to fail occasionally and we don't know what code is actually being run or if the IP will be available in the future. Keep your data safe!
AWS is down, if you need it, info is here:
To get skins working using the config, use Mojang's old AWS skin server.
Note that with AWS, your skin might be outdated or a skin might not be available if:
- Your account is not old enough
- You changed your nickname after it became obsolete
To use this server, go into your config file (client not server!) and change the skin url to:
Code: Select all
fcPlayerSkinURL=http://s3.amazonaws.com/MinecraftSkins/
