Re: Phase 6?
Mobtraps... I am really loving the things. I have *never* had this much fun designing things in minecraft ever before. Building giant structures that have purpose is quite awesome.

Re: Proposed Change Discussion: Removing Zombie Iron drops
I am all for this. since building my mob trap I have had almost no reason to do any further mining for the stuff. And that just seems off.

It was a grand history type of thing, which is similar to much of the bible so that is totally understandable.crazybrit wrote:When I read Silmarillion it felt like I was reading the bible. Or was it the other way around?

Re: Lord of The Rings
I honestly don't know very many people who know the lore. but the ones who know the most are two girls. One is my sister, who inducted me into it long ago, and a girl who goes to the same church that I do.

Re: Mob traps: This has been rewarding
just before this last release I had begun working on my very first mob farm, and I must say it was one of the most rewarding things I have done in minecraft. I am now beginning work on my second, and much larger one. The sheer number of ways the things can be set up boggles my mind. :edit: Muppets a...

Re: I think I know why FC mentioned salt!
I am glad to see my suspicions confirmed on the salt thing. I had just started watching Supernatural again a couple nights ago and suddenly I though "Hey! I wonder if thats what we will use salt for." I didn't say a damn thing about it though...

Re: Lord of The Rings
I've actually not sat down and read the Simarilion myself - mainly because for as much as I love his stories, I can't quite get past the Professor's writing style. I've done a decent amount of research though with the help of friends, and educated myself in a more roundabout way. Yeah... it took me...

Re: Lord of The Rings
To be more precise, Morgroth, Sauron's predecessor was one of the Valar - the god or angel-like beings of the Tolkein cosmology. Gandalf, Saruman and Sauron were all Maiar, or 'lesser spirits'. I've always sort of equated these to nature spirits of Native American or other tribal cultures - but tha...

Re: Lord of The Rings
Just suggesting that Sauron had /any/ familial relations is just lore-breaking on so many levels... Was he a god or just some elder being? Its been ages since I read the Silmarillion and I cannot recal everyone's origin. As I recall he was of the same "race" as Gandalf. I think the closes...

Sauron and Flowerchild are probably more like brothers. or half brothers... they do seem to be from different genres.

Re: Harry Potter and the Methods of Rationality
So far it does seem to be more of a commentary than great writing... Interesting to be sure. But it lacks something. I am only on the second chapter so I will wait to pass any further criticism.

Re: [SPOILERS] 3.80 feature discovery thread
Either a bug or an interesting feature: Even though it has 4 candles on it, the Infernal Enchanter does not emit light. Keep in mind that it was just implemented, and that emitting light would be a largely aesthetic feature. however, I am curious as to what implications it would have for the thing ...

Re: Non infinite fire duration
Honestly I dont see a problem with having access to the stewing pot pre-nether. AFAIK you need hibachis to be able to stoke the fire so you need the nether to make progress anyway. that is true. you can only stoke with hibachis. And the fact that it is a pain in the arse to keep a stewing pot going...

when you get bored you could always make a portal in the nether to somwhere far away and start over fresh. That is what I have begun to do, and that way I can always return to old worlds and it gives it a much more... whole feel to my game play.
