Avoiding Beacon Side-effekts

I have an Enderblock-Beacon at my main base and was getting annoyed by the Endermen tearing appart my landscape.

Found an easy fix: suck up the beacon with an BD and only spit it out when you want to use the ender chests (done via a pressureplate, so absolutely no inconvinence). Since then there was no more Endermen activity.
This feels extremly cheap and also somewhat defeats the penalaty for fideling with interdimensional stuff.
