Cant install BTW with new Installer 1.12?

Hi I've been wanting to come back to playing BTW after along hiatus but when I had my minecraft installer updated to the newish one, I tried making a new profile and selected 1.5.2 and when I went to hit play the installer crashed...
Is there a way around this?

Did you read the 10 threads in this forum about the issue? Did you edit the json? Did you make sure the options file was removed?
Unfortunately, Mojang has made it near impossible to install BTW lately

Download the old launcher:
Install BTW
I can't remember if you have to modify the json or not with this version of the installer.
