Readme being out of date confuses users

We're getting a lot of confused players on IRC and the tech support forums, because the install instructions in the readme of the latest BTW version don't work anymore. Is there a way we can somehow remedy that and point them to correct install instructions?
The issue has to do with the fact that the latest Launchers from Mojang don't allow you to mod the jar without extensive edits to a JSON file, something that's a nightmare to explain to average joe.
