Smelting rails

As much as I hate for one of my posts to be a suggestion, there's been something nagging at me a lot lately. Abandoned mineshafts have become one of the most efficient sources for iron, assuming the player has a working crucible. In an average trip, if you're focused on collecting the rails within, it's easy to collect 1 or 2 stacks of rails, which can be smelted down into 24 ingots per stack. Thus, the incentive to branch mine for iron is lost if you can find a mineshaft, which are pretty abundant. I know I myself have collected about 120 iron ingots from a single mineshaft under my base, and this feels pretty 'sploity to me. Perhaps if you switched the crafting recipe to use iron nuggets and likewise for smelting? I apologize if my suggestion is unwarranted :)

You realize that by the point you can make a crucible to melt down the rails, a mob trap, and thus an infinite supply of iron, is well within your capabilities right?

In other words: bad idea.
