4.66 Spoiler Discussion (SPOILERS...no shit)
There's a few little secrets tucked away in 4.66, so I figured I'd create this thread preemptively ;)

First thing I noticed was that creepers drop their own oysters.
Upon eating them, one takes a little damage.
Has anybody else figured out a use for them?

Awesome, I was wondering how you were going to handle the overlap between the quartz block and whitestone. I've been hoping for blackstone for a long time, and it looks so, so good :)
Re: 4.66 Spoiler Discussion (SPOILERS...no shit)
I really appreciate your solution for Quartz and Whitestone playing nicely ;]

Re: 4.66 Spoiler Discussion (SPOILERS...no shit)
Hehe...thanks guys. Yeah, I'm quite pleased with the whole Black Stone thing, as it was a bit of game-design Judo to just turn white to black and have it fit the mod so perfectly.
As an added bonus, I really like the idea that people converting their vanilla worlds to BTW may have structures suddenly turn dark and evil on them ;)
And btw, in case you haven't tried it yet, using an Anvil may be in order here :)

And I thought the redstone block looked good...
We've had obsidian a long time now, but this...this is great. What a gorgeous new aesthetic you've given us FC :)
Also, since Briali hasn't reposted this yet I thought I'd mention that axles move when powered now.

You may remember that I was tempted to add obsidian sub-blocks for a long time now, but I decided against it given how difficult obs is to work with.
I'm glad I waited ;)
Re: 4.66 Spoiler Discussion (SPOILERS...no shit)
Black Stone is really sexy! Finally a dark block to build with :)
Btw... you can't stop yourself from darkening everything you see, uh? Souls, souls everywhere!

How does one get this 'black stone'?
Re: 4.66 Spoiler Discussion (SPOILERS...no shit)
FC...
Have I ever mentioned what a devilish hunk of a man you are?
I have been wanting a true "black" stone with a non crappy texture like wool for use in starry skies in a building since... since... a very very long time! Obsidian is too purple and icky and black wool just doesn't look quite right, but black stone is perfect! and as an added bonus, I don't even have to worry about it going up in flames! \:D/

Re: 4.66 Spoiler Discussion (SPOILERS...no shit)
well I've lol'ed at nether quartz's new status. Very nice!
Nice to have a decorative black stone that doesn't take forever to break.

Re: 4.66 Spoiler Discussion (SPOILERS...no shit)
I tried brewing Creeper Oysters in the potion stand and was kinda hoping for a potion of strength ;)
It's nice having another desperate food source and I'm eager to see if there's anything else behind them or if they're just for giggles. As a side note I'm loving the new look for quartz and the slight change to color actually makes it a bit harder to find it within all the netherrack :P
Haven't found any other spoilers yet.... but still experimenting with those oysters ;)

Re: 4.66 Spoiler Discussion (SPOILERS...no shit)
Yeah, it's definitely much harder to find, which I think is actually good in the case of quartz, as it's basically a surface-level ore that you tend to just come across while wandering around. Making it a bit harder to spot then makes it more of a discovery rather than a "oh...there's some more".JakeZKAM wrote: As a side note I'm loving the new look for quartz and the slight change to color actually makes it a bit harder to find it within all the netherrack :P
Also, I think white was a really poor choice for quartz given the nether's color palette. I found it really stood out like a sore thumb and just felt weird.

Perhaps they wanted an excuse for a Marble/White Stone like block? With a white pallet Quartz just felt like an extra ores in the nether mod, rather than a real addition. Simply making it blend in better does wonders since the stuff is all over the place.
Re: 4.66 Spoiler Discussion (SPOILERS...no shit)
Black Stone is magnificent. Exactly what I wanted for a project I have in mind: a game of chess with heads.

Yeah, after venturing out to get some on the official server I have to say I really like the dark colour for the ore. The white an eyesore in my opinion, and having it dark and cloudy makes a bit more sense for it to be called 'Nether Quartz' rather than just, you know, 'Quartz'.FlowerChild wrote:Also, I think white was a really poor choice for quartz given the nether's color palette. Findings: After a short test, neither tamed cats nor ocelots appear to eat or have any interest in creeper oysters. Whyever creepers fear cats, that particular reason is not among them.

Love the color change to quartz. Took me a good ten minutes to realize that you had changed the color and the dark areas of the nether weren't just poorly lit but actually quartz. I don't know why but the original color always made me think that the ghasts had a massive orgy and the quartz I had to collect was really just the solidified "chunks".
It's also nice that we now have an easy to get dark aesthetic block and sub-blocks. I've been trying to figure out if it does something other than look nice but haven't found anything. I doubt it does have any extra features but knowing you FlowerChild, it pays to be paranoid.

Fucking genius man. I'll consider that the best suggestion I've had in awhile. The Phoenixian wrote:Findings: After a short test, neither tamed cats nor ocelots appear to eat or have any interest in creeper oysters. Whyever creepers fear cats, that particular reason is not among them.
Very tempted to go whole hog on that actually and turn them into cat toys ;)

It'd never clicked until now why they called the bar "The Blue Oyster". So thank you especially for that moment of revelation.
