It Takes a [BTW] Village (4.30)

With the expectation of the upcoming villager changes, I wanted to setup a server where the community goal is to build a metropolis for the slave, er, testificate population.
Server Details
The server runs on a commercial host, and I will initially support 10 players at a time. This first month is definitely a trial period and I may shop around for the best support.
There are 4 world backups a day.
BTW 4.30
All settings are default
(Hardcore Spawn = off)
Large Biomes are enabled
Difficulty is set to hard
Server Rules
This is a friendly server, griefing or otherwise interfering with another player’s enjoyment is not allowed.
No flying, x-ray, or other hacks.
The idea is for this to be a community project; play nice with others.
Server Plans
Well, we’ve moved out of the initial construction phase, and into the beginnings of automation. There are some great designer/builders as well as skilled redstone technicians, and several who do both.
My intent is still to create a city for villagers. Small single-use buildings, with a single door allowing for controlled villager cloning. The idea is to incorporate all the FUN of BTW into a medieval-ish city. I would like to see surface buildings in general, but as machines get more complicated, things would likely extend underground or into the mountains. Bonus points for aesthetics. I would prefer everyone utilize the existing landscape in their designs as opposed to flattening features.
I want input from the community regarding layouts and other general construction ideas.
Personal ‘outposts’ are perfectly acceptable, but please spend some time constructing buildings in town, as well. Resources are not community owned unless you want to share so find a safe place to stash your stuff. At the same time, show off your builds.

Goal for your initial contribution to the city: Initial tech tree advancement (I tend to get through it quickly)
Offer up any idea for the server: Maybe a communal area with plenty of equipment, to help others progress or skip stages entirely to contribute sooner?
EDIT: Rereading, I should've been more clear. By equipment, I meant things like saws and kilns, not tools :p

Hey first time poster long time lurker. Been playing the mod for well over a year. I have been looking to join a server since my friends don't want to put BTW on our current server. Thought this would make for a good first jump into a server since it will be a friendly one.

First Goal: Assist in the tech tree. Don't necessarily always need my own place right off the bat.
Idea: Might be a good idea to have some form of central planning. A zoning board if you will, so that the place will be creatively unique, but at the same time, cohesive. In other words: Don't let the place become a hodge pogde! lol
Edit: Put the wrong in-game name haha
First Goal: Assist in the tech tree. Don't necessarily always need my own place right off the bat.
Idea: Might be a good idea to have some form of central planning. A zoning board if you will, so that the place will be creatively unique, but at the same time, cohesive. In other words: Don't let the place become a hodge pogde! lol

In my defense, I've gotten better. Also, the secret's been out of the bag for a week or so. Casinodoug has a server, and I joined it.

One more thing I forgot to add to the OP…Take care of those villagers, keep their breeding under control, watch out for infinite-spawn caves, remember zombies bust down doors chasing villagers, and also no multi-door breeding pens (FCs going to nerf that anyway). I actually would like to minimize doors, maybe only one per building? Anyway, use discretion.
