Mob spawning is currently FUBAR on the server. I was digging a hole during midnight, above ground and not a single mob in sight for the better part of the night. Eventually 2 skeletons spawned. I was the only one on, so no mobtrap other than my own would've been working. And my mobtrap barely got anything (based upon drops, maybe 3 zombies and a creeper).



I do have a request:

could you add a friend of mine to the whitelist? His username is mrneorej. When i'm on, there's usually between 2 and 5 people on, and he's in the same timezone so server impact will be minimal (in case you fear it gets too crowded)

I ran into the mob issue myself on my server. If the server view distance is set to anything less than 10 (default) it severely impacts mob spawning.

Server lag got resolved, apparently there was about 450 testificates in a little hole around spawn.

I'm now assisting life with the management of the server.

The server has been updated to BTW 4.22 and I've put in place server mods that allow us to track the CPU usage of the server. They are available at http://lifewater.kicks-ass.net/stats.html and are a work in progress.

I've also disabled the spawn chunks from staying in memory, so it should no longer slow down people who are no where near it.

If you encounter any problems when respawning, please let me know!

edit: the server ip repond to a ping so the machine is on life must be doing something or someone did something...

Unfortunately, I can't connect to the server via Web, SSH or the Minecraft client, so it might just be frozen or his power might be out. Like maxsi said, the server is responding to ping so hopefully it's just the server.

I've IM'd him (he's afk right now) and e-mailed him too. Hopefully I'll hear back very soon!

Looks like Life restarted the server or at least fixed the issue!

Sorry about that, the hurricane didn't do much to my power but the power company has been messing with the transformers outside as the surrounding area has no power and they caused our power to go out. Shouldnt happen again.

Server has been updated to 4.31!

It also has the following mods:

- Chunks near spawn are no longer always loaded. They are now loaded and unloaded normally like any other chunk.

- All chunks in the Overworld are unloaded when there are no players online. This already happened in other dimensions, but it is now on for the Overworld as well. This should help with the issue of chunks being loaded when they shouldn't be.

- A /who command was added that lists the players online. However, if a player has not performed certain actions for more than 5 minutes, it will also list them as "AFK". You will now know if EthinolicBob is AFK or just being very quiet!

There is a portal rail network already in construction, the terminal hub has not yet been started, just the eastern line

Server just went down. I couldn't ping Life's IP for a few min. It's responding again but the server does not seem to be up. I'm guessing a power failure and the server either hasn't booted or isn't set to boot when it receives power.

I'll send him an e-mail and IM if he comes online.

I have managed to restock my supply of explosives, so later on I might have a second try at a theatrical digging of my northern castle moat. Fingers crossed i don't loose another half stack of BD's and my TNT this time round eh :P
