Just got back from a Real Cave System

So my significant others birthday is this Tuesday. Being located in Arkansas, we decided to check out a local wonder in celebration.

Blanchard Springs Caverns, one of the best cave systems in the country. We took the short tour, but holy shite... It was still breathtaking.

Playing Minecraft as much as we do, I thought I'd share some of the pictures we snapped along the tour. This cave system is still "alive," and the phenomenal lighting you'll see was installed by a professional who specialized in Opera House lighting.

If only Minecraft could look this good.

I'll spoiler a few choice pictures below, the full album can be found here.

A TP that high a definition would murder your computer.

I live in Kentucky, we have a bunch of limestone here riddled with caves too.

I've drug my wife to Mammoth Cave and Lost River Cave... both great. The boat ride at Lost River is a hell of an experience.

That picture isn't us. I never could get good pictures, even with a decent camera. The size of the space and the darkness make photography impossible.

Did your guide turn the lights out for you? Its unreal how dark it is...

very cool! i love caves, although i've only been in maybe 5 proper ones. that lighting must have made it unbelievably beautiful... happy birthday to your significant other!! :)

*makes mental note to suggest stalactites and stalagmites once block id limit is extended*

Man, watch out for Creepers . . .

This makes me think Minecraft should have stalagmites and stalactites. You know, other than just cubes that happen to protrude. Something like flowers on the surface, a 2D-sprite.

I once visited the shasta caverns in CA. Caves are absolutely fascinating to me.

There is no way that something like that could even come close to doing them justice.

We could need much more then 64 blocks between sea level and bedrock...
