I'm pretty certain it's that texture pack's torches.

thats pretty cool... i think that, that is somthing that i want... but if i do do this, i would need to remove the fire from above the torch (in the particles.png)... would that effect the fire block... eg: the one that the habachi spawns? or does the fire have its own custom texture? (that i am unaware of)

Fire has it's own texture, but I think your furnaces and possibly lava would no longer have flames come out of them. The furnace will still glow though.

For the best effect for the torches, you would also have to remove smoke particles, which I think are used by BTWs objects to show they have power, this might be the real downside.

It's a damn clever play on how Minecraft Renders the textures.

I can see some Modder picking it up though to add more interaction in it. The concept has a lot of potential other than just looking pretty.
