Dawnraider's 32x texturepack (WIP) version 0.1

Here is a 32x texturepack I am working on. Some of the textures will be animated, I just don't have that done.

Nice one, Dawnraider! I like what you've got so far - a big creeper influence, which is a nice touch :).

Now I see why you were asking about it on my thread - when you tackle the BTW terrain and get to animating it, let me know if you have any trouble :).

And as for your concern you had about them being too solid, you seem to have gotten the hang of getting a nice level of variation now :). The only thing I would suggest is perhaps try to add a tad more shading to it - I'm thinking of the cobblestone based textures particularly. But it's not something it needs, more a personal preference - if you like it as is, then leave it, it's your pack after all :).

Looks like a good start, keep at it!

Alright, thanks. Cobblestone and moss stone are just placeholders. They are recolors of the bricks (Netherbricks and bricks will stay recolors of each other), and I was planning on changing them. I don't really like the moss stone either. I am planning on making slight changes to the planks so that the area between blocks looks better (the individual planks line up at the borders) then I will make the other types of wood. Do you think I should make the planks different styles, or just recolor the originals? I will get a pic up with the planks update when I get it done.

Aww, I really like the moss stone, so keep whatever you did to make the actual moss bit if you do decide to change it.
And bear in mind, changing cobblestone is a pain, as it means you have to the change pistons, and dispensers, and furnace on and off, and moss stone, etc., so ends up as a lot of work.
Well I made the planks different styles because that's the mood I was in when I did it. I have very changeable moods, and as such I end up disliking most of my textures at different points, but I like most of them most of the time :P.
First and foremost, you need to decide whether this is a pack for users or a pack for you. The difference being that if it's primarily for other users, you will have to be prepared to change the textures that the majority want to be a certain way, whereas if it's for you, you can take their advice, but the decision is ultimately "how do YOU want it to look". For now, if you want the planks in different styles, do it. If not, don't.

As I said, keep at it, I look forward to seeing how it develops :)

Yeah, I do like the style for the moss stone, just it doesn't look good with the current cobble.

It looks nice so far! Keep it up!

Now for a little constructive criticism:

Regarding mossy cobble, the moss on the cobble feels too dark in comparison to everything else. I think it would look better if it were lightened up somewhat.

Those planks look very nice, but the double bar of perfectly lined up boards is kind of disconcerting. Maybe if you took that middle row and turned it vertical, and make the bottom and top so that you have two rows of horizontal staggered planks. It's hard to explain in words, so (following the actual block texture here):

Other than those two gripes, I like the pack. It feels somewhat impressionistic to me because of the vagueness of the blocks. I like that. :)

I think these look very clean and neat. I quite like them except for the creepers everywhere.

I guess I've never understood the plethora of textures that include creeper faces. I generally want to have nothing to do with the vile creatures, so why would I want reminders of them everywhere!

Rhacer, think of it like this: by having creeper faces everywhere, you are putting up a figurative finger (of your choice) to the "vile creatures". In one of my old worlds (which got lost due to a silly laptop) I had a base built of green and white wool in the shape of a giant creeper.
As I said before, that's one of the things I like about this pack. So I guess you and I will agree to disagree ;)

I've gotta say I enjoy the imagery of a giant Creeper. Perhaps if I ever created a world where Creepers were and object of worship, I'd go with that kind of motif.

I have already fixed the problem with the planks, the bar on the bottom is now in the center (Will gets pics up once I finish a few more textures). I agree about the moss stone. There was something I didn't like about it, but I couldn't put a finger on it, but that would be it. I will fix that. I am working on the chest and crafting table. Once I finish those and lighten up the moss stone, I will post some new pics.

Will Stone Brick be a stone-colored version of the brick texture? If so, could the current Mossy Cobblestone texture be used for Mossy Stone Brick?

The stone bricks would most likely have larger bricks than are in that current texture. That texture will eventually be used only by bricks and netherbricks.

The top of the crafting table looks a little bland. Other than that it is really good.
Think of the most awesome thing in the world. Then multiply it by ... ... ... ... ... 6!!! That's how awesome Better Than Wolves is.

I think the ores stand out a bit too much, if you could make the colours a bit more subtle that would be great.
If the minecraft world is infinite, why does the sun still rotate around it?

Will fix. Thanks. Also, the crafting table was pretty quick, so it is still rough. That will be changed as well. The ores I am in the process of redoing.

I like the abundance of creeper faces. Perhaps the axle and the water wheel could have the creeper face?

Another thing about colours standing out but the green on the mossy cobble looks quite harsh.
If the minecraft world is infinite, why does the sun still rotate around it?

Well, other than the fact that obsidian isn't magma that's only partially cooled (but we had that discussion another time), it should at least have the magma lines match up.

I am going to use the new HD patcher's CTM functionality, so I am going to make ore textures random, along with grass. Do any of you have ideas? By, the way, the obsidian lines not matching up is fixed.
