We have a community on Github for addons!

Anyone with an addon (and probably those without) can request access to this community and will be added. Most of the addons have also graciously transferred their repository over to the community. The benefit of this is that you will easily get help with your code and more people will see your addon. In return, if you have been missing in action for a while, the community asks for the right to fix the occasional bug or port the addon to a newer version. In almost every case this is a benefit rather than a downside of course. If you would like to transfer your addon, but you don't want anyone else to touch it even if you disappear, that can probably be arranged too.

What about texture packs?

Texture packs are welcome too! Be mindful of licensing in case your work is based on another texture pack though. The benefit is that someone could easily donate more textures if you want some help.

I have no idea how Github works or what a Git is

Git works around a system of "sources of truth", in that it keeps a historical record of all changes that were made to a project (usually code, but it could be images or any other file too). Github is simply a way to keep your Git repository in the cloud, along with some social features.

People on the Discord can probably help you get started, there are several addons in the Github community made entirely by people that had no prior Git experience.
