UPDATE: The 12w30e Snapshot is ready for testing! This polished Snapshot mainly aims to fix a few final loose ends before the 1.3 Pre-Release, scheduled for tomorrow.
Corrected Ender Dragon Egg teleportation
Added rotatable log blocks
Strongly decreased the amount of enchantment orbs you get from furnaces
Fixed cocoa placement on sideways logs
Fixed Survival inventory in Creative mode
You can get the most up-to-date Snapshot by clicking the links below.
What links? :)
Anyways, a pre-release is a good step. The sideways logs are quite pretty too.
By the way, Ribky, you have 666 posts. Don't you dare make another.
'e' ? I think that's a new record, ahem. Also, rotated logs, as suspected. I wonder if 'this is it' or if they're going to work on fallen trees some more..

it turns out you also get exp from smelting cobble...
not much, but still, we're now pretty much getting exp for nothing

I would be shocked if they gave XP. Hell I hope that FC removes the vanilla XP from everything but mob killing. I guess it depends how much he's started to relax on the "changing vanilla features" policy.
As 1.3 hasn't even been released yet (thus, MCP) I would be surprised that FC even started looking into the new code. He might have, but I doubt it.
However, the exp from cobble -> smooth stone is true. Just watch RenEvo last video.

I was watching McKrawlls stream the other day. They restarted the Burpcraft server, and a lot of them were grinding to 30 at the furnaces in just a few minutes.

BTW already does a lot to make mining less important (recycling / steel). It also does a lot to make vanilla exp sources unimportant (mob traps / exp showers). BTW already blunts the impact of these changes.
I would have said the same about Iron though, and FC sees a problem there. So who knows.
This tweet by dinnerbone made me smile (regarding one block of TNT doing enough damage on hard to kill you outright even if you're in full diamond armor and blocking):
Dinnerbone wrote:One single TNT block can kill you (including its fall damage) in Hard difficulty with full diamond armour and blocking with a diamond sword.
Josh Lee @Jishaxe
@Dinnerbone Maybe you should nerf that a little
Nathan Adams @Dinnerbone
@Jishaxe I think hard difficulty is better being too hard than too easy.
Tweets like that do restore some confidence in mojang. Dinnerbone seems to be the most in touch with actual game design and not just giving the masses what they want.
Well, the pre-release is finally here. Morv, Batto, either of you gonna try your hand at the commercial contest?
Also, how will the enderchest affect anarchy play? Since its contents are now player specific, even if yer base is trashed and the chest destroyed, the enemy can't steal your precious SFS and various other high value items. thoughts?

Huh... I didn't quite grasp how valuable the ender chest being player specific would be until you mentioned it. In block form you could store almost all of your truly valuable materials in that single chest and never have to worry about losing them ever. Seems OP.

Yup...I've been thinking about that issue for awhile now. I personally liked it more when it was communal, and thus dangerous to use in SMP.

Another change they did was the player reach has been changed from 4 blocks to 5 blocks. I can not find any mention of that change but it is there.
<DaveYanakov> I know I overuse them and put them in inappropriate places but they just feel so good.
<icynewyear> shit is delicious

That's a big deal!
Sadly I think it'll make my mining feel more like telekinesis... :P
Well, so much for reasons to stay in the Nether...
that's the sort of thing that I could imagine FC changing back, especialy since it's been put in because of the vanilla problem of "there's nothing to do in the nether but AFK", in vanilla, it's great, now people don't need to just afk in the nether, in BTW, it's just a nerf
I kinda wish they would put a requirement for netherwart growth in the overworld. Like require the soul sand to be surrounded by nether brick. Or need a lava flow next to the soul sand in the same way water is needed for crops. But meh. Now I have eve less of a reason to make a nether base. (outside of a gold farm that is.)
