Well, my theory is that he told them he was going to remove it to shut them up, without it ever being his actual intention. Now they can be all happy they "saved" emerald ore, and won't bother him about its rarity.

I still prefer my method of just not giving a fuck :)

The sad thing is, I'm more looking forward to being able to spruce up my caves with pretty green gems in the wall than the entire trading system. Kinda glad they're keeping it >.<

Hehe...yeah, I hear you. I don't think they were going to get rid of the emerald blocks though, just the naturally occurring ore. Granted, if you wanted to decorate with the ore itself, then yeah, guess it's a good thing :)

Honestly, I don't really care either way at this point. I'm at the "whatever!" stage, so I guess that passes for "acceptance" ;)

according to the wiki, adventure mode just makes you unable to place/break blocks, where does it say about the xp orbs from mining/smelting?

well, at least we got the xp farming update before the balance was completely ruined...

although, it's worrying that it implies that it's normal mode functionality, not adventure...

Improved enchanting
You can enchant up to level 30 only
15 bookshelves are enough to reach the new maximum level
Adjusted enchantments to fit the new maximum level
Made experience easier to acquire
You get experience from mining ores
You get experience from smelting item
Haha, that's all I've got to say. PRetty predictable after leather-bound books tbh.

There were some good and bad changes IMO.

Bad:
-If it's true that you can get xp from mining ores then that might be a bit too easy (depends entirely on how much you get). On the other hand, with BTW3.70 you shouldn't be lacking xp anyway if you've got a mob farm set up.

Good:
-Tripwires, more redstone toys are fun.
-Trading improved, you can't trade some easily grindable goods anymore (rotten flesh, ender eyes).
-Emeralds seem to still be quite rare, spawning only 1 per vein.

Undecided:
-The new enchanting system with max lvl 30. I guess it's another move in the direction of making enchantments easier to get but has it been confirmed if it's simply that what you could previously get at lvl 50 you now get at lvl 30 or it is the same scale as before only it's cut off at lvl 30?


Just for laughs:
-Mojang continues the trend of giving vMC users features that BTW users have enjoyed for some time already; the lowest field of the enchantments is now always your level :)

They'll announce they're releasing a feature, then it'll be on their "task list" for 6 months, then they'll work on it another 6, then it'll have too many bugs, so 6 months later we'll get a still-buggy release =p

amazing isn't it, they say it will be in 1.2, make most of th framework, then an entire patch later they say that they don't know, whilst at the same time, the community has made multiple patches to make it work.

XP from mining ores: yet another shove against mob traps, especially given the new enchanting deal.
This latest update is unbeievable. I think I do agree, jeb isn't a designer.

omg! this latest snapshot just makes it too easy. Mojang what have you done! *facepalm* I had a gut feeling that the 4096id/api wasn't going to happen. They are too focused adding fluffy stuff for the crying public.

I don't mind xp from mining ores in principle, as long as the cost for enchantments is rebalanced appropriately. I think you should only get it for rare ores, though. Would be silly to get it for coal or iron, which is everywhere.
