Hardcore Torches Mod: Glowstone is your friend

UPDATE: I updated it with the properly-tweaked probability of dying out.

This is something I've been meaning to do for a while, and the discussion of it on the suggestion section convinced me to go through with it. It was way, way easier than I was counting on, however, so I thought I'd just share it here.

Basically, torches now have a random chance of vanishing permanently at the same times (though at lower frequency) that crop growth and leaf decay can happen.

Also, both torches and redstone torches cannot be recovered once placed, but redstone torches will NOT risk disappearing, fortunately :)

Updated it to make the decay time 1 in 50 rather than 1 in 100, and also to make torches unrecoverable.

I would like if they would "go out" and be replaced by "extinguished torch" which can be re-lit with F&S instead of vanishing.

Yeah, the vanishing makes it more difficult than it needs to be. It makes it too diffult to find your way out of a cave, mark where you've been, etc.

The Wadsworth Constant states that in most videos the first 30% is rubbish and can be skipped.

Hence youtube added a wadsworth constant flag (as seen in the url of Fracture's video link) to do just that. Haven't seen Raust's video, but I assume the first 30% is full of awesome, and the last 70% is filler?

Are you taking over from Notch Raust? This was supposed to be added to vMC in the Halloween update last year. Anyone else remember hoarding torches due to the rumour that all torches would become lanterns and any new torches crafted would burn out. I think we just got glowstone instead.

Well, the first few seconds contain the most awesomely, hilariously horrible acting in the entire history of sentient witness, which the wadsworth constant would skip.

Anyway, yeah, I think I'm one of the few people who actually LIKED the idea of hardcore torches, which is why I made this mod. I found myself doing no-torch runs, even a whole succession game with no torches, and recently it dawned on me: "oh wait, shit! I'm a modder now! I can actually MAKE this!"
