So I was working on my texture pack to update it to the latest version and I noticed my Grass slabs are doing the same thing.

It seems as though FC has altered his dirt slabs in some way, at first glance it looked like he has reworked them so that they now take advantage of Better Grass (a feature from MCPatcher), however this doesn't appear to be the case as the colour is applied all the time, not just when bordering grass and also whether you enable it in MCPatcher or not.

The problem is that the whole dirt slab texture is having the tint from /misc/grasscolor.png applied to it when it grows grass, instead of just the top.

This should probably be reported on the MCPatcher thread on the minecraft forums, the author alredy did some fixes when MCPatcher was incompatible with Better than wolves because of Hardcore Darkness, iirc.

well I've made a bug report here since there wasn't a problem until one of the new releases of BTW. See what FC says and if I still have a postable account (!) we can go from there. I have posted a bug report or two on the MCPatcher forum in the past and as far as I remember they went unanswered, and it hasnt been updated in so long it might be fruitless to post it there

yeah, I just checked and MCPatcher author, Khar, hasn't been active there since 2015. So there's a chance we are out of luck here.

Hey there,

There's no problems like this on my game (although I use the Derivation Omega I'v been updating) so I'm thinking maybe it's the MC Patcher version you are using? I've always used the earlier version (that came out with 1.5.2) and I've had no issues.

I uploaded it to MF ages ago, so you can get a copy here to try it out ^^

that mcpatcher that you're using doesn't support all the new rules added with the latest version. with Conquest mcpatcher needs to be 5.02 or 5.03.
the grass slab problem is still there with latest Derivation and mcpatcher 5.03

Hi

I am not sure if it is intentionally but the colors for stone bricks variants do not match. Stone bricks and stairs differ in color with the siding mouldings and corners.
I did trace it back to the color.properties where the ids for the subblocks are missing. There are propably other blocks affected to.

Anyway great work with the pack.

Can you take a few screenshots? I'm not seeing a problem on my game. Also, that may be an MCPatcher version issue. Can you tell me which MCPatcher version did you use to patch your game? I'll try it on mine and see if the problem appears...

All right, there were two problems. One was the color.properties file as you mentioned, and also stone brick and regular brick sub blocks were not working properly with CTM. I fixed both issues, and updated the TP files. I added a bunch of other blocks on the color.properties list to work properly with the stone colors. Please let me know if it looks ok or if you find any other weirdness.

I also changed the stonecolor.png to be a bit more subtle, because imo that brown stone was ugly as fuck :P (no offense to Sphax)

Yeah, there are a lot of blocks... I'll add them to the list as they come along, I guess :P

Edit. Apparently upper slabs have a meta of the "lower ones" +8. They weren't listed on the id list, so I didn't add them before. I'll put an update soon.

Just a helpful hint: that depends on the specific block type. Vanilla blocks tend to be all over the place on the metadata values they use to represent different things. Mod slabs will vary depending on whether the slab is its own block (like rotten flesh) in which case I have a unified system (precise metadata value will still vary depending on what other bits are used for in that block), or whether a bunch of them are crammed into one blockID (like dirt or wicker) from when I was trying to minimize blockID usage.

Anyways, just to say you'll likely need to verify what metadata is what for each individual slab type, as there's no general rule like "metadata + 8".

Ah, ok, thanks for the heads up. In my case I just added the id 44 blocks (stone, sandstone, cobble and stone brick) and I double checked that those are correct. If I need to add more of them I'll be careful...

I went through a similar situation with my pack. I went through most of the blocks that I wanted tinted and added them to the appropriate lists a while back and I haven't had any complaints since (though there's always the possibility I've missed some, I haven't noticed anything off).
