When you place a second vanilla slab on an existing one, minecraft will prevent the placement if the player is stood on the slab.
However, mod slabs do not prevent the second slabs placement, causing the player's legs to clip into the new block and, worst case scenario, be pushed out of the block sideways into an empty space. An empty space that may be a lethal fall.
As far as I can tell from testing, blood wood slabs are the only Mod slabs that behave like vMC ones in this regard.
