Often "making of" videos ruin it for me. This time? holy hell. They actually charged horses at Kit?

It was one of the best episodes of GOT ever. I think a reviewer put it perfectly: few shows can open up with dragons, and then STILL outdo itself.

I don't get why the internet is in rage over this season, saying it's the worst one so far. I find this season to be the best one so far and every damn episode just keeps on topping that.

It has a clear shift in speed compared to other seasons, and it's often difficult to tell what the actual time progression is. I like it though.

Yeah but thats a problem on the books as well.

What differs from this season and others is a shift in the structure of the story as whole. We are finally closing more plot points then we are creating. Chars are coagulating where things are happening instead of things happening and spreading chars away. In the books im pretty sure we will see more and more POV chars interaction. It finally fills like we are going someplace instead of strolling around.

When has the collective "internet" ever said anything of value anyway?

Yeah, definitely feels like one of the best seasons to me. I think the internet might just be pissed that there seems to be less nudity than usual, since porn is the fabric of its existence :)

Less nudity? Not really. More like less boobs to penises ratio. A lot less. And yeah, considering the average demographic of the people who rage on the internet, I'm not surprised they are not satisfied.

Hehe...yup, I had to think about it a second to realize it, but there does seem to be more dick flapping about. I think we've got the geek rage fairly well explained :)

I went back through the episodes a while back and I was surprised to see that in the earlier seasons, there's quite a lot of dick. We get to see Theon's dick, Hodor's dick and a few others I forgot.

I must have terrible dick memory, as I don't remember any of that either. I think my only reference for knowing there's a lot of dick in the series is the Southpark episode about how dick obsessed Martin is :)

And I'm just sitting over here wondering if there's anything to the way Jon dropped Longclaw, the sword of house Mormont, and took up their shield to finally defeat Bolton

One other thing I'm seeing are complaints about the banality of Ramsay's flat character arc. It seems to me that the stories involving Ramsay were never about him at all. They were about Sansa, and tangentially Theon, and how they acted in the context of the Bolton treachery. He was never meant to be a well developed character. He was an environment.

See, I don't even remember that, although I remember people talking about it. So weird. I'm beginning to wonder how many dicks are lurking unseen in the corners of all my memories :)

They are lurking in all of us. It's why we feel the need to build phallic structures in Minecraft. And in real life.

I feel like I'm learning a lot from this conversation.

I don't think Season 6 has been all that great.

The first few eps were just ok. I wasn't even sure why it wasn't really working for me as much. I was guessing just the story wasn't as strong as past seasons. I was wondering how much of the story that wasn't working for me was stuff that wasn't in the books. I do think the Hodor episode was great. And the following episode was excellent. Then the whole Arya episode in Ep8 didn't work for me at all. The very end with the candle was awesome but I couldn't get past the fact that she was seriously wounded and was sprinting and jumping...

This past ep was excellent as well. So there have been some very good episodes. Some great scenes. But it feels more inconsistent than past seasons.

I think a big part of it is that we're now in Payoff mode (the story HAS to go somewhere eventually. White Walkers can't stay across the wall forever) and we're seeing a lot of wrap-up with little new avenue for new stories.

Combine that with the fact that the internet has plenty of books and episodes to write theories from and plenty of people to obsess over it and it's clear the show can't be a surprising as it used to be. Whatever happens next for payoff, there's almost no way a theory won't exist on that. Even Hodor was predicted 8 years before on some corner of the internet messing about.

Unless the show wants to end on an extremely unsatisfactory "everyone dies pointlessly", there's gotta be movement to ensure people start winning. We have an Essos largely unravaged by war and people to draw from. There's definitely irony in this because the First Men came from Essos to take Westeros from the Children of the Forest. The Children made the Walkers (at least, in the show) to defend against this and now we have the reverse situation.

The running theme is that good guys die first. Well the people we have left aren't the good guys. If you inserted them in Season 1, they would be seen as the Bad Guys very much.

Here's the full list of penises (source, recommended read, talks about the complaints there have been from women about the disparity and how they are mistaken):

• Theon Greyjoy showed an unrealistically flaccid post-coital penis during a scene with Ros in season one.

• Hodor flashed a large prosthetic* penis in season one that actor Kristian Nairn called "very realistic-feeling."

• Also in season one, the wine merchant (Simon Lowe) that attempted to poison Daenerys went full-frontal for the scene in which he was stripped naked and forced to walk behind Drogo's khalasar.

• In season four, the Meereenese champion showed the head of his (potentially prosthetic) penis when he urinated on the ground before his duel with Daario.

• Olyvar goes full-frontal in a brothel scene in season four.

• A customer and prostitute in Littlefinger's brothel both briefly showed their penises as the Sparrows rounded up sinners in season five.

• During Cersei's walk of atonement in the season five finale, a man in the crowd flashed his penis at her, and was later killed by zombie-Gregor for his trouble.

• The actor in Braavos showing off his wart

Yeah, I'll have to disagree here. I think season 6 has the biggest amount of reveals, the biggest fights, the best dialogues that we have seen yet. This is the first season where I'm sitting on the edge of my couch, fidgeting with my hands and it has been that way since the very first episode of this season. So yeah, dunno, it just seems odd to me that others don't feel the same, but I guess it's relative to the person?

I feel the same, but am reluctant to say it's the best yet, because I know this may also be at least partly due to this being the first time I've watched an episode without having read the corresponding book first, since season 1. Was hard to be surprised previously, so I know that's making everything feel much more exciting.

It does seem really really good to me though :)

Well, I've read all the books and watched all the episodes (for now) and I admit this last season is well developed, interesting and quite twisty, compared to the other ones (maybe also because I'm watching it in English? :P)
When I finished reading the books and I started watching season 6, I was sceptical, Infact I thought that the season, not being based on books anymore, would be poor in content..
But Damnit! I was wrong, terribly wrong! Aye..

You read the books in non-english (im guessing polish or canadian)? Cuz the translation to Portuguese-BR of the books is outstanding, down to what city names should be translated. I cant say the same about the translation of the show. Its atrocious.

I never read translated books unless I really HAVE to :/. I think something always gets lost in translation, so I try to read English books in English, Dutch in Dutch and French in French. Unfortunately I only know three languages well enough to read books. I'd love to be able to read more original material. I guess that with some practice I could learn to read either Spanish or German, but I never seem to get around to that :/. I also never EVER watch a dub, dubs are bad. If I'm watching anime, it's in Japanese, if I watch a Danish cartoon, it's in Danish, if I watch German or Italian movies, same. Unfortunately with subtitles of course, but it's still better than hearing the wrong voices.

Anyone else got an opinion on translated books/movies/etc?

Only knowing english I'm stuck with whatever translation's provided, unfortunately. Subtitled with original audio tends to be best though, since you can always pick up emotions easily enough and it tends to be easier on the ears than a poor dub.

As an added benefit, when playing games like FFXIII, chars with catchphrases and the like are a hell of a lot less annoying when you can't understand them.

I've read them in Italian, but now I'm gonna try in English, it's not so difficult.
You're right about the translations. In Italian the sixth season is awful, for example "Hold the door" is translated to something very different from Hodor.
In the books Winterfell is translated to "Grande Inverno", "Great Winter" in English... :/
Also Asha changed name, She is now Yara, because in Italian Asha sounds identical to Axe. Figure it out.. Asha took the axe xD

Have a nice day.
