Observation about eating food while on ladders

It strikes me odd that while walking, which doesn't really involve your hands, eating food causes you to slowdown, yet when you are on a ladder, which presumably requires your hands to climb up, you're able to climb at full speed while eating food.

Yeah, it's a reasonable observation, but given its impact on gameplay is negligible, and given I'd prefer not to mess around too much with ladder behavior if I can avoid it, I think it's an acceptable compromise.
