Buddy blocks don't react to changes in string

Post by BlackCat »

So at present string block updates can be triggered without tripwire hooks, allowing for some pretty shady stuff.

I don't expect that many people are even aware of this behavior but tripwire (string blocks) cause block updates when entities pass, allowing you to do, like I said, some shady stuff.

Was unsure if this was a bug or not but it worked the same using a vanilla bud.

The behavior is mostly harmless, but can lead to a lot of workarounds where something would normally be fairly difficult.

Edit: just to clarify I'm referring to placed string, I'm not sure what it is normally called
*String placed without being connected to a tripwire*

Yeah, I'd consider that a vanilla bug. Trying to fix all of Mojang's fucked-up block interactions would be like putting my finger in the dyke.
