Lava+Redstone=Obsidian makes beacon trivial

Post by SterlingRed »

As per title. The vanilla feature/bug of being able to convert Redstone lava falls on into obsidian makes the obsidian beacon out of line with the rest of the beacons as this vanilla behavior makes obsidian gathering possible to automate. And not hard to automate either.

Yeah, I don't object to that one too much (this first came up over a year ago) since there is a resource cost involved.

Also, obsidian beacons are already balanced around the easy availability of obsidian. They're basically big inter-dimensional antennas, not really granting any powers on their own, so they're not really balanced vs other beacons as their usage is not at all the same, and you require multiple beacons of that type to make use of them.

You think Redstone to Obsidian is bad? You guys need to check out Tripwire to Obsidian.

Relevant videos on youtube.
There's only one V in my name, thanks.

<TaterBoy> I figured out why there's so much lag. We have too much iron.

Here's a pretty good video on tripwire related shenanigans:

Apparently they work as day/night detectors as well.

Hehe...figures they would be far more useful for their related exploits than for their actual intended use :)
