3 years later and I have yet again restarted this pack.. I know
But I'm optimistic that the third time is the charm ;)

Anyway, I am happy with some of the shapes of the previous version, so some of those are staying.
I have though chosen to use Arne's Paldac palette, which isn't technically a palette, but an asortment of palettes (thanks Gil). Nevertheless it spares me time of dicking around finding the color I want, but I got to deal with what I have and not be restricted to 32 colors either. Which is a real challenge to make minecraft blocks look good with a total of 32 colors available.

So I have decided to remake everything I have done so far, since I am changing from 32x to 24x resolution. I was just not satisfied with 32x.

Most of you probaly know, that since a while I have been updating the John Smith BTW Support and am still doing that.
But now I have decided to make my very own Texture Pack for Better Than Wolves.

Up to now not much has happened. I have only made a few tools, but wanted to get some feedback already!

Please keep in mind, that all Textures might change over time.

UPDATE:
I have added Iron tools, with which I am mostly sastisifed. I think the shovel still needs some work.
Also I added Hemp (Block) and Hemp (Item).

UPDATE 25/01/14:
I have added Carrots (Block and Item) and changed Iron Shovel

UPDATE 26/03/14:
-Added Cobble Blocks and Mossy Cobble (including CTM)
-Added Wicker Blocks (Including CTM)
-Added Rails

You know what? I actually kind of like the aesthetics of this! I wanna see where this goes! It's different from the usual wood stick with stone attached to it!..kind of!

I think the sprites you have so far look great. I agree that the iron shovel should be reworked, it currently looks more like a spear. Making the head larger would probably correct that.

Will you be incorporating CTM into your pack?

May I also suggest that the tops of mossy cobblestone and mossy stone brick look like stepping stones in the grass? Similar to the JS pack you were working with. I'm not sure how well you know block property files, but could it also be possible to have the moss color be biome specific to match the grass color of each biome?

That is something I had planned to do. I dont know if I can change the moss color, but we will see :)
I need to study mcpatcher in great detail anyway!

there are two ways for doing that.
first is to force stone moss stone to use a palette colours, like grass or leaves, con is that all the block would change.
second one is to force the change with block.properties files and with this you can have anything you want for every face. con is that you need to texture more and make lot's of properties files

I don't know much about ctm, but for the mossy stone grass look, would it not also be possible to change the look of the block based on what blocks are bordering it? Like if it is beside a grass block, the mossy will gain the stepping stone look?

I think I will go with ion's second method, since I dont mind making more textures and it gives a bit more space to implement maybe little special detail for the specific biome :)

I'm liking this so far quite a bit. However, the Iron Shovel looks like a spear. May I humbly suggest going for a square shovel head design?

These textures are intended for the mod "Better Than Wolves" by FlowerChild, which has not intentions of promoting the usage of "Hemp" as drug related.
"Better Than Wolves" uses "Hemp" in it's techtree, as an item to create Fibers, Fabric and then finally windmill wings to build a windmill to create mechanical power.

Yes, this is looking to be a different kind of >16x pack than the likes of Dokucraft and John Smith that I have grown so used to. I'm excited to give it is a try when it is completed!
