You have my support too. Sakuras and Lanterns and paper doors.. Excellent ^^

I'd really love to see Chōchin or Tōrō style lanterns myself too (I'm assuming yours are Bonbori, but that might be simply because you have them on a fence :P) but that might be too much :P

Also, kudo's for sticking with the BtW principle of not messing with worldgen ;]

Well, you're most definitely going to get a download from me as well.

But are you eventually going to make the leave particle effects look more... leafy? Just wondering.

Because in a preview for Tropicraft 3 I saw there were trees in that that also had falling leaf particle effects and they looked amazing.

This looks really beautiful. Thank you for doing it.

I LOVE aesthetics. I'm nowhere near as good at implementing them as many people, but I love the ability to make things look unique and interesting.

Add paper armor. Do it. Equal to iron armor in defense level, but much worse durability :D

I'm looking forward to the paper walls. Not only will they be great for my houses, they'll look great as sails on ships. Paper walls is one of the major reasons I ever tries Millenaire, and I was really cranky that I couldn't craft them myself.

This is a Japanese themed addition, not an Alaskan one :)

I watched the video but I didn't see their leaf effect anywhere ? I haven't figured out how to get a custom texture to work with a custom particle effect yet, but I do plan to do that.

Everyone thanks for the continued support!

As to everyone's suggestions so far, I'll take them into consideration :P
Keep in mind that this is a long way off from release - I'm going to wait on the extended block id's. In the meantime, I'll keep you updated with my progress. Feel free to feed me more ideas :)

EDIT:

Oh actually the Japanese theme is just sort of the first thing I decided to work on. I'm definitely going outside of that theme as it evolves, so we don't have to confine ourselves to Japanese aesthetics here :)

Try not to overwhelm the guy with suggestions for obscure additions that don't really mesh with what's in there guys. I am of course renown for my ability to say no to ideas, but it may not be as easy for someone just starting out, who may be eager to please, and can rapidly turn the creative process into an unfocused and frustrating one.

Give him a chance to grow a spiky exoskeleton will ya? :)

I think all modders have the option, just that few take it :)

Btw kaos, let me know if you would like me to move this thread to the main discussion forum. Since it's a BTW add-on, it's not really off-topic ;)

Sorry about that, I just thought "Paper", remembered the game has armor, and that mythbusters showed that the historic japanese paper armor was as protective, though less durable than steel, and I got overexcited.

Great man. I think I might be grabbing this addon when the time comes after the block id release I appreciate the aesthetic choices you are implementing and its nice to have little new elements into my game. I am always playing with BTW but its nice to get an add-on such as this to spice add a little more to that experience.

Interested to see how the Sakura leaves and lanterns turn out, I think those are both really great ideas.

I really like the idea of "hobbies" you've got going here, and how you're implementing them. Giving the player silly, fun things to do that lead to a reward in the form of aesthetic blocks is kind of brilliant.

Thanks! That's what I'm going for.

Some mod related news (sort of): So as of 20 minutes ago, we have a pet squirrel in my house. So I will definitely be adding squirrels to the game at some point.

Will they be pet squirrels? If no, very cool, ambient fauna you can't actually interact with would make mc a much more lively world.

Otherwise I'd suggest being very careful how far you would want to go with it. Just making it stick around in an area and following you if you hold an item is good enough, you wouldn't want to run in the save design and implementation problems mojang did with wolves and cats ;]
