Your situation sounds very similar to mine. So far I am not having any luck with my 5x5x20 body of water. I think I will try finding a large ocean in my world and try my luck there.

Ok, thanks for the clarification. I thought that I noticed my mosh-pit of cows consuming a ridiculously high amount of wheat when I spammed the right mouse button. From now on I am definitely going to be throwing items.

This is a dumb question, but if one was to throw a stack of wheat into a pin of twenty or so sheep, would they all eat just one and breed similar to how chickens eat? I usually breed animals by clicking on them and just realized that they can eat the items.
