Re: What kind of music do YOU like?

I like to believe that I have relatively diverse tastes in music - it depends strongly on my mood whether I'll be listening to electronica, jazz, modern rock, classic rock, or what have you. If I had to narrow it down to a few artists... Incubus (http://youtu.be/Qf_7mEPMIAc), Shock One (http://youtu...

I'm happy to chip in with $10 to you, FlowerChild. It's not a lot, I know, but it's what I could do for the time being. Thanks for doing what you do, and keep it up!

Re: Transfer world from BTB to BTW

Well, the thing is, since the Oil blocks are in the world, playing without BC installed will just delete them, leaving blank space in their place. If you can live with that, you're good to go. If you don't have any BC or BTB (like the Spout) items, in chests or other storage blocks, you should be f...

Transfer world from BTB to BTW

Alright, I have a somewhat interesting dilemma on my hands. I'm not sure if there will be any reasonable way to solve it, but I figured I might as well ask here before giving up. A few weeks ago, I started a Better then Buildcraft world for the first time. I haven't had time to play a ton, but I'm a...

I'll also testify to the quality of 1/0. It's quite an experience reading it all the way through, and presents some interesting ideas. Even if it can get a little heavy-handed with some of the themes, its format makes this work out. Definitely worth a read.

Re: The Official Off-Topic Unofficial SpaceChem Thread

I picked this up with the Humble Frozen Synapse Bundle a while ago, but never got around to playing it. That's the problem with these bundles - too many great games at once! I'll definitely check it out now, as it sounds exactly like my type of game.

Re: BTW Pass it on map! (With HCB!)

How about this, as a general rule: If the person next in queue doesn't accept it within 12 hours of it being posted (or some smaller time, either way works) than the subsequent person can take it. Other than that, I think the list of interested people is as good of a order as any.

Yeah, how are we determining order? Is it going to be a schedule thing, or more of a "first come, first serve" deal?

Re: BTW Pass it on map! (With HCB!)

Sounds good, put me on the roster. :D The only mods I'll plan on using will be Somnia and maybe Optifine - I vote on "not" using BOD, though. Never played a game with HCB, but should be pretty interesting! EDIT: Looking at the different maps, I don't know anything about itamarcu's seed, bu...

Re: Your First Computers

Another 90's kid here. I think the first computer that I used to any extent was a PC that my dad put together, running Windows 98. I do find it really interesting to see the difference between those of my generation (and a little older) and those who didn't grow up handling computers on a day-to-day...

Humble Bundle 4

So, if you all haven't heard, the Humble Indie Bundle 4 was released earlier today, with in my opinion its best collection yet. The full list comprises of: Jamestown Bit.Trip Runner Super Meat Boy Shank NightSky HD as well as Gratuitous Space Battles and Cave Story+ if you pay above the average, whi...

Re: Boosting and automating Exp from villagers.

First off, apologies if I seemed unnecessarily harsh responding to your first suggestion. I intended to give a friendly caution, but looking back, a lot of the "friendly" part of that was lost somewhere between my thinking and typing. That being said, this idea is much more coherently put ...

Re: Mod idea inspired from the "as seen on tv" store

A few friendly tips for suggestions: First, as per the subforum rules, please include a descriptive title about what your suggestion actual would do. "inspired from the 'as seen on tv' store" is very vague and doesn't reveal what you actually want in any way, shape, or form. Secondly, it's...

Re: Hardcore torches mode

It seems logical that the torches would go out. Nerfing the torches would have an interesting effect on gameplay, certainly. If you're worried about strip mining, mob spawns, etc. I'd say that one logical solution would be a portable source of light. It would get tricky, though, if you had to switc...

Re: Hardcore torches mode

Maybe it's simply that I'm not a creative enough person to envision how I would handle such challenges, but I can't see how nerfing torches to such an extreme could be sustainable in any world, not mentioning the aesthetic limitations created by the inability or impracticality of using torches in hi...

Re: Why some recipes aren't working?

You'll have to be more specific than that, if you want help. Are only BTW recipes not working, or vanilla ones too? What mods do you have installed - there are quite a few conflicts with BTW, so you may be having issues there.

Re: Java Coding

Obviously if there is any sort of class you have the opportunity to take, there's nothing like having a teacher to help you learn the fundamentals of programming. Web-lessons are a good start, and can help you understand syntax and structures, but learning to think about how you can use the tools a ...

Thanks for the post! Some interesting info here, and in Jens' own words, even if most of it is just confirming things we already new/suspected. I suppose the obvious conflict with the modding API vs. source code is limiting creative potential for mod developers versus the incompatibility and instabi...
