Re: Freaking spiders. I need a plunger to fix this clog.
...or find a solution to kill them that doesn't impede water flaw and doesn't involve me tearing up the whole kill area. Hint: spider's can't drop into a 1-block-wide space; other mobs can, but those mobs are 2 blocks tall so their heads would still be at the level of a saw that was 1 block above t...

Re: Assaulting the End
I've managed to continue to postpone the assault for awhile now. I managed to get a small mobtrap up and running and well hanging out at Diamond level tech is pretty viable for awhile. EnderSpecs are indeed a must but I like to use full Diamond gear to run around the nether and once I get to it the...

Re: Hardcore Nether Animals Discussion (Spoilers)
Mine is maybe 40 blocks or so away, and the only time I've had a problem was when some of my wolves escaped and teleported to me while I was near the portal. I thought none of them were possessed since I'd noticed in Vioki's video that the possessed wolf had a black collar -- all mine had red collar...

Re: Assaulting the End
I'm really afraid of going to the end. I have no idea what to expect, other than knowing there's a big bad dragon there and a whole lot of endermen. It's not especially hard. I went there shortly after the changes to SFS using this gear, and killed the dragon pretty easily on my first try: -Full se...

Re: Jungle Survival [possible spoilers]
It's not hunger that makes it so deadly though, it's the jungle spiders. I'm well into the late game and I usually either build high bridges over jungles or avoid them entirely...I've learned painfully that even a full set of armor and weapons doesn't do much good when they all start sneaking up on ...

What's the use of lily pads anyway? I recall somebody said something about using them against hats but I can't imagine how.

Re: Best use for early game pistons.
ahh ok Didnt know there was a bug that did that. Numerous bugs actually...which I imagine is why FC hasn't done anything about it. Basically, to keep people from exploiting bugs for BUDs, you'd have to fix a whole slew of annoying little vanilla bugs, and people would probably just figure out new o...

Re: Hardcore Headwear SPOILERS
Tip: hats are fairly easy to hunt (though they haven't dropped any scrolls for me yet) if you build a sizable platform on the shore with 1 block of water above it. They'll swim onto the platform to get to you, but they don't yank you out far enough to get into deep water so you can kill them and jum...

Re: Glistering melons (health potions)
It does highlight a potential problem moving forward though, in that as vanilla changes, and btw doesn't update, problems like this will likely become more common. It occurs to me that the problem could be easily solved with a wiki article detailing the features in 1.5 that have changed in later re...

Aha. Makes sense. Ignore my post then :)FlowerChild wrote:Actually, no, if you check the wiki, it was changed in 1.6 to use 8 nuggets instead of 1. We're still playing 1.5 :)
EDIT: Thanks for checking the code btw! I didn't expect you to go to that much trouble :)

Re: Glistering melons (health potions)
Bah. Never mind, just figured it out...you just put a gold nugget in one slot and the melon in another. I still don't see anything in the change logs about it though...FC, if you see this, should that be added to the wiki article? Or am I just an idiot that can't read?

Glistering melons (health potions) (SOLVED)
So...I can't create a Glistering Melon using a melon surrounded by gold nuggets. Did this get changed? I've searched the change log for everything related to potions and melons and I don't see anything about it.

Re: Hardcore Headwear SPOILERS
Where are my hats? No, seriously, I havn't seen a single hat since a couple of updates. I have an ocean close to my base and tried to observe some of them. I fell into water more than once, but I have yet to see a single hat anywhere. Am I missing something? Is my installation bugged in a strange w...

Re: Is strip mining viable?
I know this is not really the approved method, but I actually only branch mine when I have stone picks, and start caving as soon as I have iron pick/iron sword/basic armor. With stone picks, it's doable, safe, and stone is plentiful enough that I don't mind "wasting" it on branch mining. B...

Update notification re-enabled?
I've been meaning to ask this for some time but I keep forgetting. According to the change log: "Removed Mojang's update pester from the title screen, given BTW is not yet available for 1.6, and given that it was frigging annoying :)" Yep, it is friggin annoying...and it's still happening ...

Crucible "eats" leather items?
I was trying to cook leather in a crucible into glue and lost a crap load of it. I know, leather should be cooked down in a cauldron...that was my mistake. But I was very surprised that in a stoked crucible, the leather cooks and then just...vanishes. Is that supposed to happen?

On topic: I don't know about you guys but jungles are becoming the new Nether for me. Sealed off enclosures on the canopy FTW! I stay the hell away from them unless it's absolutely necessary. There's nothing in a jungle I want bad enough to play try-not-to-die with a bunch of nasty little cave spid...

Re: Lossless Chicken Farm?
I won't get into details, but the long and the short of it is: cramming a bunch of animals into a small space will be a bad idea. I have two chickens per cell, in a 1-block space, with two seeds dropping per cycle. I'm hoping that's not too many...especially since I now have it working beautifully ...

Lossless Chicken Farm?
I'm having a terrible time designing this, so I thought I'd see if anyone has any input on how to do it/whether it's even possible. Here's the problem: if I want to collect eggs from my chickens, they have to be standing on a hopper. That means they have to be blocked into a one-block pen. I can't d...

All you really need to beat the nether is a Bloodwood sapling. Plant one of those babies and chant "UBERDRASIL. UBERDRASIL. UBERDRASIL." Use Souls for faster results. EDIT: Surrounding Pigmen will rejoice at the sight of you planting the sapling and come to your aid if you need it. I rece...

Re: Best biome to settle in. (SPOILERS)
The only biomes I actively avoid for early game building are mountains, jungles, and deserts -- mountains because I can't afford the hunger, jungles for hunger as well and for the spiders, and deserts because there aren't any resources to speak of. Otherwise the various dangers are all manageable, i...

Loved the story btw. Had a really good laugh from that one. Lol yeah me too, once I got over it. They had been coming at me for a bit on that boat and I had just gotten to the point where I thought, "Ok, yeah, the helm works...that's not so bad..." and then I go flying ten feet in the air...
