Re: Better Than Starting Manned (Flower's WIP KSP mod )

I seem to be having an issue with reentry. Namely, even though the ablative shielding is nearly full, the entire rocket burns up anyways, shielding included, well before the shielding runs out. It's pointed perfectly in the right direction, bottom first, yet unlike without FAR, it just... explodes i...

Re: Better Than Starting Manned (Flower's WIP KSP mod )

Wow, early game is MUCH more... i wont say easy, because it's not, there's still quite a bit of fiddling and optimization, but I managed to get into a polar orbit with all tech 4 nodes unlocked MUCH more easily than i normally do. Without FAR my contraptions start to look like something youd try to ...

Ok, here's a picture of my monstrosity, as you call it. XD http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/hh196/Psionphoenix/screenshot3.png I just fired each rocket right as the previous stage was giving out, starting with the 8 outermost rockets. here's the final height I got: http://i256.photobucket.com/albu...

Re: Better Than Starting Manned (Flower's WIP KSP mod )

My personal impressions of prerelease so far: I've unlocked all teir III nodes so far. getting high orbit science was rather difficult for me, since every combination of rockets i used didnt seem to work. I eventually settles on a design with 8 boosters around the main one, with 8 more boosters on t...

Re: Better Than Starting Manned (Flower's WIP KSP mod )

I've yet to touch the reaction wheels, because I couldn't understand what they were for by the description. Do they simply act as a wheel that lets you spin a piece of a ship separately from the rest of it? or spin the entire ship? what does it do that RCS doesn't cover?

Re: Better Than Starting Manned (Flower's WIP KSP mod )

Er, how can i attach more than one parachute when theres only one attach point to the pod, and none on a chute? If you mean adding radial tanks around the pod and putting chutes on them, i tried that and it hit a speed of 11.8 m/s before smashing to pieces, again with only the chutes surviving. Not...

Then attach more parachutes man. Get creative with your design. Er, how can i attach more than one parachute when theres only one attach point to the pod, and none on a chute? Re: Better Than Starting Manned (Flower's WIP KSP mod )

I seem to be having an issue with the first non pressurized cockpit you get. No matter what I do i cannot get it to land without blowing up. I even designed it so the only thing landing is the cockpit itself, attached to a parachute, and it just comes down at 9.8 mps and explodes on either land or w...

i did that too. decoupled my landing pod and then realized i had all my batteries attached to the lower parts of the ship, so seconds after decoupling poor jeb blacked out. XD

Re: Better Than Starting Manned (Flower's WIP KSP mod )

Lol, I love the fluff text you have for all these shoddy parts, makes me want to unlock the next just for that. Jeb also discovered the perils of vacuum, and somehow i managed to design a rocket at tech 2 that shot off into a stable orbit... around the sun. <.<; sadly, i attached all the transmitter...

Re: Better Than Starting Manned (Flower's WIP KSP mod )

Er, did i do something wrong? I got the first cockpit that let me put a kerbal in, the command pod MK-1. I guess it's tech level 4? I thought it was supposed to kill my kerbal if I went too high into space, but he went all the way up to 800,000 meters without dying. <_<; Was I misled into trying a f...

Re: Better Than Starting Manned (Flower's WIP KSP mod )

Lol, i've been playing with this mod and loving it so far. Someone mentioned a tip of using spin to stabilize a flight that I... maybe took to rather big extremes. I love the idea of my rocket being essentially an oversized bullet to space though, and it works pretty good on the times a slight error...

Re: Sorting systems in BTW

That is one case where monster sorting is actually useful. You can separate creepers from witches using cats as a way to scare the creepers into another channel, then kill them from there. Whether the hit to item production efficiency and the added space of a monster sorting system is worth it, is u...

Re: Terraria PC update apparently in the works, due Mayish.

Well, one of the main reasons I could see for them adding alternate biomes is for decorative purposes. Not so much the color of the blocks, although that can be handy as well, but the textures of the blocks themselves, since now we can paint blocks different colors. Also, I've yet to enter hardmode,...

Re: Terraria PC update apparently in the works, due Mayish.

There is a way to pause. alt + tab to switch to a different window will pause the game until you switch back. If, on the other hand, you want the game to keep running (such as waiting out a night cowering in a shelter) while you browse the web, just click the terraria.... window/tab/bar thingie on t...

Re: Terraria PC update apparently in the works, due Mayish.

I'm not sure if it applies to all wood, but for normal trees, you still need an axe. Living wood on the other hand requires a pick, but it also doesn't drop as a resource, and drops normal wood instead. (you need a special wand to convert and place normal wood into living.) Not sure about the specia...

Re: Hardcore Nether Animals Discussion (Spoilers)

FC doesn't waste time in coding, so it's probably something fairly intuitive once you grasp whats going on, but also simple to code. Come on man, you really don't need to start metagaming this kind of problem like that, at least not to that degree. Plus, I sincerely doubt most have a good idea what...

I'm thinking it's too complicated a system. FC doesn't waste time in coding, so it's probably something fairly intuitive once you grasp whats going on, but also simple to code. Personally, that mention of soulsand and exploding chickens reminded me: soul urns. You know how soul urns, when tossed, br...

Re: Hardcore Nether Animals Discussion (Spoilers)

well, theres several ways a virus could spread. through the air, through water, via contact, through bodily fluids such as blood, through contaminated soil... I doubt it's water, or soil, but both airborne pathogens and blood would seem to make sense, them being souls of the damned and all. contact ...

So basically the souls are like a virus. Anyone tried dragging a contaminated animal near some healthy ones? maybe the souls "infest" other nearby animals as well, like a hellish chain reaction.

Re: Flower's Dev Diary (Week of July 22nd)

I love the sound of old nether being back again! Mojang really messed up a lot of stuff with their recent updates, starting with the merging of SSP and SMP, and they still don't seem to care about all those old bugs accumulating. I still can't knock back a ghast fireball in SMP, and thanks to the me...

Shit...did the Aether have flying sheep?
