Re: Custom Map for BTW - Seeking Input

Dropping in temples by hand isn't going to be a pain at all, I've already copped a few from a BTW world and turned them into MCEdit Schematics, I just need to hand-place the BTW-specific items like the Vessel in the non-looted Jungle temples. I'm also playing with the idea of redoing village archite...

Re: Custom Map for BTW - Seeking Input

I feel dumb; I've always worked on maps using a fresh install of vMC, I do believe you're right in saying that so long as this map is loaded and worked on with BTW installed, HCStratification should be in effect. Thanks for that! I would love to see this, however one important thing to note is that ...

Re: Custom Map for BTW - Seeking Input

@Taleric - Thanks for the numbers, this is just the information I was looking for!
@erikdk321 - Definitely going to be plenty of “natural” borders like what you described.

Though, now that I know the “retro-stratifcation” tool hasn’t been released yet, I may have to shelve this project for now :[

Re: Custom Map for BTW - Seeking Input

Here's an example of a map I've made and here's a larger one I was working on around the same time, but didn't end up finishing. I don't know, I may care more about landscape than most of the BTW player base. The idea behind my maps is pretty simple; a nicer looking landscape, with biome grouping t...

Re: Building Mid Game

I'm rather curious about the response toward vMC BUD switches... they still require more space than a Buddy Block, and thus the latter remains preferable to the former for the sake of compact building. How is the a vMC BUD switch anywhere as cheaty as Commands?

Re: "Smart" building ideas

Slabbing over my water channels is something I do also, it's great for getting around larger crop fields without having to walk through farmland.

Sealing in your channels and keeping them 1-block deep will fix your hat problem.

Custom Map for BTW - Seeking Input

I did a few small scale maps for vMC before I started playing BTW. I really enjoyed developing them and I'd like to make a larger one specifically for playing with BTW. I'm hoping for any input on things to kept in mind while designing this world so that it flows with the mod rather than clashing wi...

Re: Mob Traps

but its easy to get those pearls o.O just make a two high hut thing with no sides and look at endermen each night, they cant get under the hut but you can so you can attack them from underneath the hut. I'd think getting the pearls fro mthe trap would take much longer than the few nights it takes t...

Re: Mob Traps

@VegasGoat: The traditional solution is for all your mobs to drop down into flowing water that ends in a 2-high wall of saws. It's an effective way to kill spiders along with zombies, creepers, and skeletons.

Re: Why did my dog just turn psycho and try to kill me?

Man, I know you're trying to be helpful here but there's a difference between trying to help someone survive and spoiling the particular effects of something that is supposed to be menacing and scaring the hell out of them. People who want that kind of non-spoiled experience don't usually go onto f...

I got really lucky today; 22 iron, 24 coal, 4 pumpkins, 1 brown mushroom a chicken on the 4th day of a new world. Sustainability is easy once you've eased into the BTW mindset.

It normally takes me 5-10 MC days depending on how lucky I am; have yet to starve. Also dirt slabs are your friend.

Re: I don't get it

But I can't get chickens to lay eggs until I find a wheat farm, and I can't plant pumpkins until I have an iron hoe, right? You don't need wheat, seeds of any type will do. Yes, you need an iron hoe to start farming, and chances are you'll have found pumpkins by the time you get 18 iron. If not, yo...

If you run a line of redstone over a SFS block and power it, the block screams and begins smoking.
