Re: How to protect villagers from zombie sieges ?
Aside from walling off your village and lighting up the place like a christmas tree, what I do when I find a new village is wait until night when they all go inside then put dirt blocks in front of the doors so the zombies can't break them down. Then you can make a more permanent solution once they'...

Re: Self introduction and query
I'm not so well established here myself, but welcome! I like the idea of keeping some sort of diary to track your progress on an SSP world. I can imagine it helps avoid the sudden ragequit'n'delete mentality when you die with HCS on on a fresh world. Reading more stories about how people progress in...

Re: Computer Building For Dummies (Help Wanted)
There's not much more I can add to the help already provided here, but I will say this: don't underestimate the value of a good quality PSU. A cheap PSU with a high wattage may sound attractive, but it's almost certainly built with very poor components with a high failure rate. Would you really want...

Derivation, brought to BTW courtesy of Kezza: viewtopic.php?f=12&t=6557 -- using it myself and I can't overstate it's lovelinessignika42 wrote:What texture pack is that?
You know you could always try a pre-4.64 world with the same seed and see if it has the same results.

Hey wait a sec -- I didn't even know you could make torches out of nethercoal... /facepalm The torch change sounds a little harsh to begin with, but it's far preferable to the extreme solutions of making torches expire or produce less light, and I approve. Something definitely needed to be done abou...

It's not quite the same as alpha/beta/early access but I did pledge for two titles on kickstarter: Elite: Dangerous and War for the Overworld. The original Elite (and Frontier Elite) was brilliant back in the day, and to see it resurrected by the same designer who made the original arouses me in que...

Epic change log. I think what you've done with iron & armour is genius, and I haven't even tried it out yet! Can't wait for a chance to try out all the changes later. I did wonder as someone else did if gold ore would act similarly i.e. refined to nuggets or if there's simply a higher content of...

Your suggestion does not fit the rules, or the spirit of the mod, and is probably never gonna happen. Please take some time to read to rules, some other suggestions that were considered/accepted, and make sure you played with the mod long enough to fully understand what FC is trying to do here. Liked DNoved1 I quickly switch items right after having eaten. It's now become second nature so it doesn't really bother me anymore.

It's a fantastic feeling when you realise your kids are actually quite smart and have accomplished something ;) I have a 5 year old son who I haven't really introduced to the joy of MC (or BTW for that matter), but since he has 3 other (younger) siblings I can't often find the time to sit with him t...

Thanks Benanov, very kind of you. I tend to keep old versions of BTW for no other reason than that I can't be bothered deleting them, so I'm good :) And I apologize for inadvertently derailing the thread, certainly wasn't my intention. I'd be very grateful to have a waltz on the wasteland to see the...

Re: Benanov's Inhospitable Wasteland (BTW 4.56 / BWR 0.26)
Hi Taterboy, I love the builds you've shown off on this thread and was inspired to build my own dung tower. I have to ask, do you get as much poop out as you put in meat? 1:1? Or is there any waste? I'm dropping in enough meat for 24 wolves (i.e. 24 steaks) and never getting 24 dung out... If I put ...

Kezza, thank you again for bringing this to BTW, it's a beautiful pack. I hope I didn't seem like I was pestering you to make the fat indicator as it certainly wasn't intended; even so, it was very fast :-)

Great pack, thanks! Have I done something wrong though? I can't see the fat meter, only regular hunger bar.

Well it is a bit odd. It's still happening and I can't work it out. I will have to test further with no wolves and see what happens, maybe it's like you say and they are despawning.
24 wolves, 6 cobwebs.
Another test:
In: 34 steaks
Out: 24 poop, 4 steaks - missing 6

It sounds like you've installed MC with BTW correctly so it's probably the underlying hardware and/or drivers causing the problem. If you haven't already done so, make sure you have the latest graphics card drivers from nvidia and the latest java updates. You haven't specified which java flavour you...

Poop tower food wastage
I don't get it. I've built myself a poop tower inspired by TaterBoy ( link for reference). Genius idea by the way! To summarise, my Tower of Power has 6 levels, each containing 4 wolves, food drops in at the top and feeds the wolves as it works it's way through the spiderwebs. All is well and good u...

Another fan of the survival forest island. I ended up taming two wolves and eating the rest; they were killing off the other animals that sporadically spawned there. Cows/chickens/sheep turned up after about a week, eventually got a breeding pair of each species.

Padfoote, your wall design is pleasing to the eye, although I'm perplexed as to how you stop the spiders climbing up the logs? Or is it a case of aesthetics over practicality?

A boat and minecart timer? *head explodes*
I see you don't have to have a wooden pressure plate directly underneath where the boat lands, either...
Really can't wrap my head around how you've contructed it, but that is a wonderful sight to behold.

Your pottery maker doesn't work. No i didn't build it wrong. Odd. Picture? I built it exactly as shown and it works fine for me, dead happy with it. Might be a repeater on a wrong setting as that can throw it off? That happened to me and it took a few minutes of troubleshooting before it worked. Re...
