Re: Feedback Request: Build breakers
I long ago decided that I would start a new and final world once you finished BTW, so build breakers are totally fine by me. Anything to make the experience even better! Fundamental gameplay changes sound exciting for sure. Though I've spent hundreds of hours in my current world and am attached to i...

Re: The BTSM/BTW divide
Well, there's already a tech 10 "you win" node, which was one of the first things I added when I gained the ability to modify the stock tree, so you may be a bit behind in the updates ;) Haha, awesome! Yeah, I took a break a while ago, and I guess I have not been following the BTSM thread...

Re: The BTSM/BTW divide
I bought KSP when you released BTSM, and have since played it quite a bit (I got as far as finishing tech 8 and doing a manned Gilly landing in pre-contract BTSM). The learning curve was steep, but BTSM was actually very good for a new player like me. I tried learning through stock initially, but wa...

Re: New Release! (BTW V4.99999A0D Marsupial??!!)
Woo, new update!! I'm hyped. :) The new system for item despawning after death looks great. Thanks for everything, FC! Edit: Oh man, the silverfish sounds really creep me out. I can hear them in a patch under my road, and now I am going to have to locate and exterminate them or else my skin is going...

Re: Vanilla Minecraft News Discussion
The main reason I believe the $25 million hypothesis is because microsoft would have to launch Minecraft 2 and bundle it with the Xbone and sell over 4.1 million units at around $600 to get $2.5 billion back. I don't see that happening in 6 months. I am willing to eat my words if I'm wrong though. ...

Re: Vanilla Minecraft News Discussion
Well, let's say you had a kick-ass voxel game nearing the end of development (or already finished for that matter). What would be the ultimate way to promote it other than calling it MC 2? I dunno, it's the only way I've figured out that the deal makes any kind of financial sense for MS. I don't th...

Re: Hardcore Sinkholes: looking for feedback
I recently did a fairly large building project in a desert, and I quite liked having Hardcore Sinkholes. It made the process actually feel a little different from the norm. I would be sad to see it go. I guess I did have a "hmm..." reaction the first time it happened on a riverbank, but th...

Re: my luck with vital tech bottlenecks
Okay, I hate myself for it, but I cheated and used a mapping tool to locate the villages. None of my villages I've tried to find are actually in my world. I'm using AMIDST, and it shows me where temples and all that are. I looked in a plains biome and a desert biome. The three villages I walked to ...

Re: [SPOILERS] Special Mob Trap
Yep, doubling the thickness of the spawning pads did the trick for me as well. Thanks Yhetti!
Also, I can confirm that light level doesn't matter. My trap has a bunch of glass windows and spiders spawn during day or night.

Re: [SPOILERS] Special Mob Trap
Yeah, I'm stumped on this as well. A while ago I built a giant tower trap for jungle spiders and I've never seen a single one; just lots of ocelots. The building is above sea level and goes pretty high up, so I don't think that's the problem in my case. I would be very interested to hear from anyone...

Puzzled was correct.
Edit: Also, just for the sake of completeness, silverfish also spawn in the End under certain conditions.

Re: Is Plate armor really worth it?
The armor isn't something worth wearing all the time, but it's definitely powerful . Not only can you put up to four enchantments on each piece, but there are various special-case benefits. In addition to the boots letting you walk on groth, with a full suit of plate armor you don't get poisoned whe...

Re: My feelings on forests
I sometimes wish that there were a field of stumps to forever testify to my victory! :-) Hehe...I can hear that. A little while ago someone mentioned leaving the bottom block on all the trees they cut down to help act as landmarks as to where they've been before. Thought it was a very cool idea and...

Re: [SPOILERZ] Hardcore Villagers trading mechanics.
Tripwire three blocks from the floor is a method that will detect wither skeletons but not passing players. I just made an effective little bottleneck trap with this. I have to say, it was the first time I've ever used tripwire in Minecraft, and it's painfully obvious that it's a Dinnerbone feature ...

Re: [SPOILERZ] Hardcore Villagers trading mechanics.
Ok, I might be doing something stupid, or maybe I just don't know how these chopping block traps are suposed to work. So I got two saws in a row, and two chopping blocks one block away. There are pressure plates that trigger pistons and push the chopping blocks on the saws. The whole thing is on th...

Re: [SPOILERZ] Hardcore Villagers trading mechanics.
Have you ever read through an entire thread and wondered if people are even playing the same game as you? And then read through it again just to make sure? I just found out the requirement for getting a Priest to level 4. Which, to my best understanding, is a requirement for Steel, as I've still ye...

Re: Subtle features you forgot are from BTW
Hardcore Bedding. That may not seem like a subtle feature, but I started a survival world without Better than Wolves and it took me nearly half an hour to remember what beds do in vanilla. I then immediately quit. Beds really are a ridiculous feature, and the game feels much more natural without them.

Re: Transporting villagers (spoilers)
I get attached to my main base. You take care of it like a pet, it's the best thing you see after a HCS, and the suggestion that you eventually have to leave all of it behind? It just nags at my head every time...that this particular base I'm investing a lot of time into will always have to be temp...

Re: [SPOILERZ] Hardcore Villagers trading mechanics.
I recently managed to get a level 5 priest, and my thoughts were that he was somehow related to endermen and their powers. Taking ender pearls and being able to turn them into eyes of ender... and his final form made me think of endermen (I think he released some enderman-like particles when he tra...

Re: Transporting villagers (spoilers)
Yeah, I really appreciate the incentive to create new bases. For half a year I've been tired of my existing main base and wanted to try out new designs in new settings, but lacked the motivation for such a major undertaking. Now with these villagers I'm finally doing it!

The only mistake I noticed is that the priest requirements are switched with the librarian/scientist ones. That also changes the progression somewhat.

Re: Hemp farm - 1 sticky piston destroys 2 hemp blocks.
I may not be understanding your problem correctly, but if you are pushing a solid block with the sticky pistons, the light block above the hemp will be briefly obstructed and it can get dark enough in that instant for the entire hemp plant to die. Try having the sticky pistons push glass blocks inst...
