Re: Space engineer

The large ship drill has actually be in the game since around December. The devs added the model and such but never activated it in game. Recently i saw a mod that activated it, but now that it's in the game we can all just go crazy. Edit: spectator mode strongly looks creative only, which is good s...

Re: Space engineer

Solar panels have no problem charging your suit. When i capture a cargo ship with solar panels, i dock it to my station and remove all the inventory including uranium. But because of the solars, the ship is still powered, so i go inside to turn it off and its at about 50% power usuage, then goes dow...

Re: Space engineer

i've been refining only uranium for the past hours in my game, just now finishing the last couple thousand ore. I have over 500kg of uranium in the large reactor, with 4.98% power usage it will last 5 days. And even after the ore is finished, i can still pirate ships for their power as well :) I exp...

Re: Space engineer

does anyone use solar for anything other then decoration, I have found them rather near useless so far for power gen Solar power works only if the panels are in very large quantities, other than that yes its decoration. Don't even think about powering engines with them :) it's also nice if somehow ...

Re: Space engineer

Holy f*** I love utility ships. Thank you FC for convincing me to build them :) I built myself a large ship with 25 grinders using another smaller ship with welders :) And gods is it fast to build... Taking apart that Minelayer was awesome, and the few parts that broke off finally gave me a use for ...

Re: Space engineer

I think the spewing part is still relevant because small ships still can't dock with stations, so your mining ships and other small ships still have to dump loads normally.

Edit: ..instead of docking conveyor tubes together.

Re: Space engineer

I haven't tried multiplayer yet but their fix for it looks great. Also, expect a hotfix soon because a fair amount of people are seeing giant white lines near where they spawn in. Also, the button to turn space stations into ships is kinda funny, seeing the starting green station lift off and fly ar...

From the meager amount of game coding I've done (a text based rpg) I can say this is 104% accurate.

Re: Space engineer

Here's my base, I just started it about 3 days ago because of the turret changes. I have 2 refineries with a large cargo container, and everything is connected which i fiercely like. In back is the structure of a dust catcher i plan on using in tandem with my miner. A large funnel and gravity genera...

Re: Space engineer

I have a collector/ejector setup on my mining ship and base, 9 ejectors on the base of the miner you can probably see in the above picture, and the collector sits right on top of my refineries. The more ejectors you have, the faster you can unload your ship and get back to mining. I haven't progress...

Re: Space engineer

I play on 10-1-1. Having 4000L of inventory is a major help for building large ships. The issue holding me back from making big things was running back and forth to transfer parts. After I get good at piracy (which will definitely take time) I'll turn on meteors for lulz and move my base inside the ...

Re: Space engineer

I remember the good ol' days of single drill mining ships... I've moved on since then: Side profile Front profile :) The drills are extendable in every direction, although it will need an engine upgrade after a couple dozen more additions. And on the topic of piracy, I just tried to capture a Mining...

Re: [SPOILERS] Hardcore Sinkholes

It wouldn't really make deserts more dangerous unless you're running from monsters and happen to step on the edge of a non-updated pond. Even then it wont cause a fall long enough to hurt. It's gotta be for the gravel fingernails jutting out of the netherrack :)

Re: Space engineer

I agree FC, there is a definite feel that they are adding for the sake of adding. I do see purpose in the different grinder sizes though, the small can be used in maneuverable ships for early scavenging and the large can be used for late when you can park the ship to salvage over a massive grinder f...

Re: Space engineer

In either the recent update or the one before that, they gave rouge cargo ships the ability to fire on you and your ships. This is a work in progress as well, but it does make getting to them and salvaging them a lot harder. And it pushes a little more to safely mine for resources which I like. I'm ...

Astro Empires is a 24/7 real time text based game that runs on both computers and phones. It's pretty good at being your "other" game, something you check on between more fast paced games. It's great if you have lots of patience (when construction/research queues can take days to finish)....

It's kind of a bummer you can't go inside houses, but I guess that would ruin lots of stuff, zero line of sight from robots, protection from blimps, and more but I haven't watched enough to know.
