Re: 4.65 Spoiler Discussion

Sure you aren't just in screenshot mode? F3, if I'm not mistaken

Edit. F1, not F3. F1 toggles the HUD.

Re: Show us your builds!

Might've shown off a few buildings from my "home" base already, but I guess there's no harm in doing a more comprehensive set of pictures. Keep in mind that this base was started even before BtW was multiplayer, so a fair portion of it is pre-hardcore modes (sheep, water, lava, etc). First...

Re: What is an Ancient Manuscript???

Sounds like FC's newest mysterious addition then. Curious that he'd put stuff like that in a chest though. Guess he really does want us exploring more, huh?Anyhow, it's far more likely that it's an attempted april fool's joke ;).

Re: Show us your builds!

Don't have any fancy machinery to show off at the moment, but it's a "build" nonetheless. I'm rather proud of the way this roof came out. It's simple, organic and above all completely spawn-proof. Pain-in-the-backside to build, though :P

Re: New Release! (BTW V4.64)

If you don't, why not design it in such a way that you can merely block off the areas that are finished. Maybe because that would create unlit, spawnable underground areas within range of my mobtrap? Admittedly, that could be counteracted by not mining where you build and vice-versa, but first of a...

Re: New Release! (BTW V4.64)

Not sure I particularly care about the torch-changes, particularly with regard to my branch-mining operations. My base'll be fine atleast as I designed it around low-light-level situations (think I can knock out every torch except the ones near my gate), but half-slabbing my entire branch-mine is no...

Re: Mushrooms

I'd just to with mycelium field manual harvest, or use saws to automate :) Otherwise you're stuck using block eaters or piston harvesters ;) Well, technically you could probably make a setup with mining charges that takes care of the tops of big mushrooms as well, but it's a bit costly. I did do so...

Re: 4.62 Balance Observations & Discussion

I think same applies to screws - 8 Iron per pump was OK in pre-Hardcore Iron worlds where iron was nearly worthless (though I actually ran out of Iron when making SF Steel beacons, those things are bloody expensive, as they should be), but under Hardcore Iron this seems bit to steep for blocks inte...

Just a random observation here, but measured in ores this change makes the BtW dead weight is effectively twice as expensive as the vanilla anvil now (63 vs 31) ;)

Re: New Release! (BTW V4.62)

It's really interesting how much this combos well with your "no world breaking" policy - a longer tree creates more than enough reasons for us to bond with our worlds, I bet this will cure the restart world syndrome in lots of people. You mean other than that everyone seems to be starting...

Re: Early game in BTW with HC Hunger

I am very sorry that the mod got challenging gameplay in your building block toy. Was that remark really necessary? Anyhow, Flowerchild has mentioned that odds were good that the balance for all this still needed to be tweaked once he got some data from others. How is he going to know what people t...

Sticky pistons have been changed to require slimeballs again after the swamps started spawning slimes as well, making them easy enough to find.

The positive I see from this, is an actual reason for a 'kitchen' area. Before I would generally just have a 'food' chest, with half of it raw products and half of it cooked, or even just leaving all cooked things in a cauldron. Heh, was actually considering a "kitchen" staffed by village...

$10 to $15 per month for running a server? Sounds a tad steeper than most hosting services.

Re: Preventing fire from burning your builds

Simply put, fire is a block that can only burn up blocks next to it. If there are no air spaces around the hopper, then the fire can't get close enough to burn it up. So yeah, signs and such could help. Sidings and such make for pretty decent aesthetics as well.

Re: Walls!

I started a new base a few days ago and settled in a swamp. Pretty early on I realised that if I wanted any peace and quiet, I'd have to build out in the water, so I got started in the middle of a shallow lake with a simple wall that had one row of cobble at the water level... aaaand I still went in...

Re: New Release! (BTW V4.58)

Hmm, not sure whether I'm completely sold on the changes to sidings and such. I use a lot of siding-outside-walls in my buildings and my trick to building them was to create a wooden frame, fill it up with sidings, then whack them into place (which can all be done from the inside of the building and...

Re: Scripts for Mod Reviews

I'll be honest in saying that the style of writing really doesn't do it for me. "When people start to fucking write like this, I tend to fucking tune them out rather quickly." To be honest, they sound more like rants than reviews, particularly with the way you compare them with BtW without...

Hmm, thought they only could do that if your graphics were on fast. Not sure how that works in a server-environment though.

Only built one aquaduct so far, and to be honest it's about the only part of that base that is actually somewhat developed at the moment. The windmill is purely decorational, btw, as a waterwheel actually powers the pumps. Can't have my crops going dry when it snows... http://bottledindigo.com/btw/a...

Gunpowder is explosive. I always thought the idea behind adding gunpowder is that you make potions that explode on impact, thereby making it interesting for the game to allow said potions to be thrown (as opposed to regular potions, where players would just go "wtf? why can I even throw that!?&...

Re: Hardercore spawning

It might be a non-standard way to play, but I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of people actually played on large biomes nowadays. I know I do, as I just hated the fact that on my old map my base actually stradled three separate biomes. As for Sarudak's suggestion: I would love to be able to expand th...
