Re: The Feature Request / Suggestion Thread - LIMITED TIME O
I'm not quite sure this is what you're after; but I have always been a fan of the multiblock 'contraptions' for lack of a better word. The kiln is one of my favourite things in BTW, because of how many parts it has and how many different ways of setting it up there are. Single kiln, mass kiln, auto ...

It's worth noting that Steve doesn't need a flint & steel to open the portal; only fire. Flint & steel is just the most convenient form of fire.

Re: BTW auto-installer
I apologize if this isn't the place for this; but I have a vbs script I threw together a while ago for setting up BTW4.A2. It's inherently open source, although windows only.
Would you be opposed if I updated/generalized and released it?

I tend to get in the habit of carrying a water bucket on my hotbar fairly early. Haven't met these new guys yet, but I'm terrified to find out if it will be enough to take one down.

Sprint-jumping has been my preferred way of crossing ice fields, can't say I've noticed anything about the hunger being off but upon reflection it does seem faster than it should be.

Re: Vanilla Minecraft News Discussion
Mojang is completely focusing on being a mapmaker/modmaker toolbox, offering tons of toys but no real progress on their own. Which strikes me as weird since Notch clearly set out to make more of an infiniminer game with clearer RPG elements. consistent non-mod moddability (ie the nbt tags, commands...

Re: Auto-swing or auto-use keybind macro?
... It's not that hotkeys are case sensitive (try with caps lock to test this) it's that shift is a modifier key. Documentation can be found at https://www.autohotkey.com/docs/Hotkeys.htm Duplicating the keybinds with the + modifier (for shift) would just give you too macoes, one with shift and one...

Hot damn, I remember that now. I didn't think much of it at the time, but with a couple more years under my belt I realize that's the kind of integrity we need more of these days.

Re: Happy [Sorta] Conceptionversarry!
Does anyone remember the original six blocks of the mods? I check the changelog, version 1.0 is just Initial release. Through a brief reading I think Iron Pressure Plates, the Hibachi, Minecart Boosters, and the light block. I also don't see cement being added, so that must have been in initial, but...

Re: Early wheat/seed
Wheat is still gated behind Hoe, isn't it? Even if you go gung ho nomad in one direction to find a village, you still need to find and smelt 18 iron ore before you get wheat. That sounds more difficult to me than building a sustainable living (which I can normally get down in about an in game week) ...

So it is well and truly impossible with BTW as it stands to do a complete playthrough like that. All the better I suppose, I still can't figure out a solution to the starving dilemma. Thanks dawnraider!

It was, but I thought that I might offer something outside the box. One cannot be lodged within a wall, if not near any walls ;)

Depending on how your coop is setup, you might be able to avoid the hatchlings becoming neck deep in the walls of their pen. If possible, hatch them on the underside of a roof, and let gravity pull them to safety. If not, dead center of a wall is a good bet. Best of luck.

I was reminded a while ago of the superflat custom generation, and how interesting it can make some of the worlds. This youtube video shows off a couple fun game modes for vanilla. I thought about trying the glass world with mineshafts, and had made the world just to see if it was possible. I scrapp...

I consider myself a power user, and I enjoy win10. The multiple desktops feature is something I've used in various linux environments for years, and I'm glad to finally have that. As a fan of both MTG and game design in general, I really enjoyed this. I've read quite a bit of stuff from Mark, but given just how much he's written I haven't read a lot of his work!
I seem to recall lesson 19 there as why we no longer have a suggestion subforum.

Re: Game Design - Incremental Games
I'm going to plug Sandcastle Builder again, just because that seems to be where this is all headed(from my vantage point at least). It's an incremental game that has strategic diversity, meaningful choices, an "end" (although that's a bar that keeps getting raised) and the sense of meta pr...

Re: Game Design - Incremental Games
Although filled with often difficult to navigate in-jokes, Sand Castle Builder is the deepest of incremental games I know of. And I've sunk many weeks into Cookie Clicker, derivative Clicker, Swarm Simulator, and a few others whose names I don't recall. I'd also like to bring to the table a somewhat...

I like the grocery list idea. Typically I just use an outside application for that, but from now on I'll think of that as too gamey.
