Re: Yogventures blows a cool half mil
I don't understand the defenders of the yogs team in this unfortunate but expected disaster. Whether the game devs approached them or vise versa doesn't matter. The yogs team promoted and put their "marketing" weight behind an ill conceived, poorly managed game with a scope large enough t...

Re: Yogventures blows a cool half mil
Since the advent of the betas, mechanics in absence of appeance has been a strong indicator of success. It feels counter-intuitive but several betas that were good bets for me looked like shit till the final stages. Substance over appearance is something some people never understand... I work with ...

Re: Yogventures blows a cool half mil
...Castle Story, Dead Linger... From my understanding, both of these are considered failures by "the internet", both for the same reason. Really long times between updates, overpromises and underdelivering, too much ambition, small and inexperienced developer teams in over their head. Wha...

Re: Yogventures blows a cool half mil
The thing is, I can kinda understand the yogscast in demanding the remaining 150k at that point in time, with them watching the project crash and burn and that. That may or propably may not be entirely or even remotely legal, but thats not the point. From a purely human perspective, I get that. What...

Re: Yogventures blows a cool half mil
No one anywhere in this thread claimed it was The Yogscast fault that the game bombed. No, but it kinda sorta got assumed that they profited from it, or are obligated to compensate: ...yogcast seems to be (somewhat suspiciously) sitting on 150k for "physical rewards" (like t-shirts about ...

Re: Yogventures blows a cool half mil
Yeah... but no... I didn't expect to ever defend the yogscast, here or on any other place, given that I'm about twice as old than their target audience (even thou I like sips... sue me :)), BUT, in bulletpoints, no particular order, and propably hard to understand and/or full of errors, since englis...

Heeey, you guyz! I just had the best idea EVAR!!!!11!12 You guyz! seriously! Guyz? So... I took my new settings for a spin yesterday, and... short answer is NOPE While it does cause everything I predicted it would, it is simply too hard, for all the right and some very wrong reasons. Re: 7 Days to Die - and How I'm now Spoiled
I thought about the game some more, and I am no longer happy with my settings, 200% zombies who never run. This is gonna be a lot of text, so... my problem is, I don't like the design decision that light level somehow affects zombie walk/run-speed. Also, the game is much, MUCH to easy with vanilla s...

Re: 7 Days to Die - and How I'm now Spoiled
The comparison to MCs Spiders is a fitting one, I never thought about it that way. The great thing with 7DTD is that you can modify the game settings to that extend. I can play it how I like it best. I urge you to try it once, since you are able to even change the settings in an existing game. With ...

Re: 7 Days to Die - and How I'm now Spoiled
@FlowerChild I kind of cringed when you said you don't pick up moldy bread. You can cook it with a beaker (rare drop from nurses. Like, really rare) and produce your own penicilin that way. Or did you deactivate that recipe with your config? From a game design standpoint, what do you think about zom...

If you want to see the game in motion:
Not my video. But I thought it pretty funny how it scares the crap out of him :D (No, not in a Pewdiepie-way. It's watchable)

Re: The Forest, open world survival horror
I've played a few hours now. Given that this is an early access alpha, this is what I've hoped for: A solid base for a potentially really fun game. Bugs don't bother me right now, and there are a few, some of them huge, but that is to be expected, you are warned when you buy the game, and again when...

Re: The Forest, open world survival horror
The fact that such a good looking game is made by only a hand full of people still baffles me. The animation quality alone is horrifying incredible. This is at the top spot of my 2014 hype list. I hope the survival aspect is as good as it seems to be. Much more important to me than the horror aspect...

The Forest, open world survival horror
Think Far Cry graphics and setting, Minecraft exploration and base building, and Amnesia pants-shitting. Announced almost a year ago with this trailer, which got it greenlit almost instantly: 4qTtVMM3uqQ I voted for it on Greenlight, even tho I was sceptical, because the whole thing had a pretty pre...

I'm kinda sad that thats not the way they are supposed to work, my grinder is at bedrock, making adjustmends for stuff that needs a nother layer or two down is kinda tricky :D Yeah...let me just break the Hopper filtering mechanic for your immediate convenience... Yes please. By the way, could you ...

Re: 4.8999999 (more 9's make it better) Spoiler Thread
I only fully understood the "tipping" mechanic at edit 4, everything before that edit was written under the assumption that you have to break the thing. I just tested it again, with the new b version: If you TIP a vessel full of Dragon Orbs, it drops Dragon Orbs. If you BREAK a vessel full...

Re: 4.8999999 (more 9's make it better) Spoiler Thread
I know this is the spoiler-thread, but just as another fail-safe: I have found 3 jungle temple in about as many hours. No luck with deserts just yet. What I found: -in jungle temples there are now 2 chopping blocks, one bright red thing called "Vessel of the Dragon" and a Hand crank attach...

Re: New Release! (BTW V4.8999999) (NO SPOILERS)
That would be one of those changes that hurt (in a good way… ahem), if not for the fact that in recent releases enchanting tables required exploration anyway (for the ancient manuscript), only underground, which there already is plenty of incentive for. So that's brilliant design again. Except this...

Re: Smelting Mineshaft Rails
I get that they reward exploration. There is so much exposed ore through the way the tunnels are generated, plus you walk out with a couple of minecarts from chestcarts in there. That is perfectly fine, even though maybe a touch too much already. But the rails are everywhere. Something as important ...

Smelting Mineshaft Rails
Through Vioki LP Episode 27 or 28 I learned that you can smelt 8 rails to get 3 iron ingots. I tried smelting them before, but only with a few rails ( <8 ), which obviously didn't work, so I assumed there is no such recipe. But now... no more iron trouble for me... that more than doubled my iron, an...

Re: 4.80 Balance Observation Thread (READ RULES OR BAN)
One thing I've noticed, in regards to food in general, is the discrepancy of difficulty between single- and multyplayer. This is true for 4.71 and 4.80 as well. TL/DR at the bottom, sorry for the wall of text. In SP, food is never really a problem. You can wander around, pick up seeds as you go, and...

Re: Hardcore Stone / Hardcore Stone Tools
Wooden picks are supposed to have 1 use, not 2 - it was apparently a SMP bug , fixed for 4.71 Unless that changes massively (considering that upping that to 2 would be doubling it, I think any increase would be massive), requiring 11 wooden pickaxes to make the first stone pickaxe seems like a bit ...

Re: Hardcore Stone / Hardcore Stone Tools
The problem is that with the recent changes to the stone tools, the balance is still up in the air a bit; people are just getting used to it, and flower's still refining the pacing of the early game. It doesn't mean it's a bad suggestion as such; more that it's a bit early to be asking for changes ...

Re: Hardcore Stone / Hardcore Stone Tools
I've played ONLY with the last version. I don't know wooden picks with more than 2 or stone picks with more than 7 uses. This is how I started this mod. And I like it. As a completely new player I don't know it any other way in BTW. And I argue that that gives me a more objective view on it :D In my...

Hardcore Stone / Hardcore Stone Tools
Hello there! I'm a really REALLY new player to this mod, althou I play vMC since the early alpha, and I'm loving BTW so far, I'm up to steel in my first world. The Tier- and Age prodgression turn this sandbox into a real game. But you don't need a random guy to tell you you did a great job. You know...
