Re: Post your gate designs

Only have one gate in my world so far, so it'll have to do: http://www.bottledindigo.com/btw/swampgate.jpg It has a daylight sensor, so it automatically sinks into the ground during the day. When closed, it can be opened for a short while by standing on the pressure plates. Once you leave the plates...

Well, to be honest it will be nice to have a multi-coloured material that I feel comfortable about putting into buildings. Using wool for construction purposes just feels weird unless you're making a carpet.

When refilled by a hopper, it doesn't start screeching either until you open the actual millstone inventory.

Re: Dealing with clingy offspring

I was trying to avoid the waterstream-method for once as I was trying to make it look "natural" and low-tech for a change. Unfortunately I have now found out that when they mature, half the time they seem to somehow end up inside the wooden supports and suffocate... this farm is proving qu...

Dealing with clingy offspring

I was designing a simple livestock farm and ran into a bit of an issue with clingy offspring. They all just pack together right beneath one of their parents until they grow up, at which point they just end up stuck between the small ones crowding around. I noticed that if I give them the illusion of...

Now you see, this is where I stopped reading. Also: EZbq0Aw6NWM If you're going to post tired old memes about posts being bad (seen it thrice in one day now, all on BtW related threads), you could atleast have the decency to actually read said post. Posting something like this is simply borderline ...

Re: Hardcore Modes impacting overall balence

I'll leave the meat of the matter to those that are more awake than me, but I can atleast address your worries about rail networks. In BtW, iron ore is not intended to be your primary source of iron, only your initial one. If you require loads of iron, a mob-farm is the way to go as you can then sme...

Re: Question about creating a mod.

I was preparing breakfast when I realised the spidey-sense might be even easier to implement than expected. Just flash the border for a moment when a mob "latches" onto you and starts chasing you. Gives you the hint there's something out there hunting for you, without giving away too much ...

Re: Question about creating a mod.

Not sure how important other people's opinions are in this matter. Do you consider it cheating? You could always turn it into a spidey-sense where the edge of the screen flashes briefly whenever a mob moves into range. As for the feasibility. My first attempt would likely be to try to register colli...

Re: 4.66 Spoiler Discussion (SPOILERS...no shit)

I have to admit it took a moment to get used to moving axles, mostly because the game has had so few moving parts so far. They're certainly growing on me now, though. Now this is obviously just personal opinion, but they do feel a tad fast, particularly with respect to the actual speeds of the water...

Re: Anyway around a Lighting Bug?

Thankfully you're using BtW, so you can use sidings for the ceiling. They don't suffer from the same issue (probably because they let light through, unlike regular slabs).

Unfired pottery ghosting

I did a search and found Unfired Clay urn visual duplication . This seems to be the same issue, so I'll accept the invitation to make a new bug report that is hopefully a bit clearer. I was designing a new pottery system when I noticed some odd behaviour. When my unfired pottery is pushed over a hop...

Shears don't take damage on mooshrooms

As far as I can tell, it seems to be a vanilla bug. I doubt it's very alarming as you need mooshrooms first to even "exploit" it, but figured I'd just post it and let you decide on whether it's worth fixing.

Re: Show us your builds!

Damn Graphite those are nice. I'm interested by the kiln and pottery systems, are they waterless or can be remade to be? And how do them saws work? The kiln is completely piston-driven, though if you intend to make charcoal you'd be better off with a different design. This one leaves two empty spac...

Re: 4.65 Spoiler Discussion

Actually, it depends on the kind of log you're burning. Oak logs are comparable to coal (8). Birch is a bit better (10), spruce a bit worse (6) and jungle wood is worst (4). With regard to kilns: I had to redesign my kiln as it occasionally burnt the wooden logs instead of turning them to charcoal. ...

So I replaced the door with a gate and went on with building my base a bit. You know, that remark really makes me feel something is off about the game. "Oh noes! Zombies break down my sturdy wooden door, so I'll just replace it with this flimsy, mostly open-air gate and I'll be safe!" Fun...
