Re: Might I make a request regarding Rule #1
Hah, I've gotta say, as offensive as the word is, I've never heard it's use defended quite so well. I honestly never even had the thought of both genders having equivalents of it. They do? The only one that pops in to my head would be "dick" but I'd equivalate that more to "twat"...

Re: BTW and SPC
If you want to get these working together, you need to splice the conflicting classes. To my knowledge the only way to do this is prohibited in the copyright, but there theoretically exists a way to merge them without that method. I haven't been keeping up with the scene involved, so you'd need to d...

Really? Well, I'm behind on my history. My apologies. I was typing up a larger response, but it grew larger than I thought and went pretty far off topic.FlowerChild wrote:Also: TFC started as a challenge mod.

Re: The Story of a Convert
i think one of the biggest hurdles BTW has with new players is the fact that it's a mod and thus it's very hard to overcome people's preconceptions of how MC "should" play. They thus tend to judge it not in terms of what it is, but rather how much more difficult it is than what they are u...

Re: Better Than Starting Manned (Flower's WIP KSP mod )
I don't know why, but I do know that many other games have been adopting similar menu style choices. Two examples from games I've played earlier today: Warframe and Sonic All-stars. It's not intuitive at all, and it's rather clunky. There might be some line of reasoning along the lines of "mayb...

Re: Hardcore Nether Animals Discussion (Spoilers)
While I don't have the exact numbers, I do propose an alternative: Build the farm way way outside the distance, and waterflow the youngens into it. It will take quite a bit of distance, and probably an underground processing facility(Guessing on that part, don't even know what happens when they're c...

"Spiderbro" or "The spider that saved my life"
I'm sure most of you are familiar with the greentext that's been floating around the internet for a couple years now, that talks about the spider who killed roaches, and attacked a burglar. I'm pretty sure that arachnid got reincarnated in my game of btw. My latest spawn puts me right at the interse...

Re: Seeking Alternative Nether Groth Spores Recipe [Spoilers
Wow, I was way off base. From the way everyone was talking about the secret ingredient, I thought the wither had some sort of fungus growing on its oysters, or something. Good to know I don't have to go through with that experiment.

Ugh. Procedural code makes my head hurt. I know I don't have the design mindset, but every once and a while you make me question if programming is really what I want to do.

There is a reason we're all here. Every member of these forums is a testament to your skill as a designer. Perhaps the trolls and the pests pop in to stir the wolf droppings know and then, but aside from that we are all here because of you. It doesn't matter if you know what to say or not, we know p...

Re: So this is new (Steam Controller)
You say "lazy", I say more time to work on other stuff :P For an independent developer, or a really small studio, I completely agree. If they support xbox controllers at all it's more than expected, and users can turn to third party software to make other controllers compatible. But for l...

Re: New Release! (BTW V4.89666)
Now, I'm not a designer by any means, but moving the packing ability from block dispensers to pistons confuses me. Isn't one of the longstanding aspects of BTW to have many uses stem from one aspect? Taking this out of the block dispenser doesn't [appear to] line up with the core of the game. I've a...

Re: New Release! (BTW V4.8942)
The size of an SFS plant is going to be huge now. We need an automated system spanning all three dimensions in order to eliminate manual input. Doesn't that break some law of physics?
Also, this made me chuckle:

Re: New Release! (BTW V4.8912)
I'm torn. On the one hand, The nether fortress finding is going to finally enable me to get a blaze rod trap up. On the other, I just spent three days installing BTW on a friends computer (purely through text instructions) and they'll never agree to multiplayer if I tell them we have to do it all ov...

Re: [WIKI] A comprehensive guide to editing the BTW wiki
I would update the wiki, but the only time I visit is to search for something I don't know, and it's either already there or it's not there at all and I don't know the information to update it. Most recent example being padded armour.

Re: Any thoughts on ubuntu edge?
At the end of the day, why would someone drop $700 on a smartphone that might not even be made when they could get a smartphone for a couple hundred up front, and the rest built into their monthly bill (which, for most cellphone providers, is included in the contract whether or not you got a new ph...

Any thoughts on ubuntu edge?
I know I've seen some linux users around these forums, and I'd be willing to bet a large number of us are technically minded. I'm a little surprised nobody's posted anything about this phone that's practically a computer yet. With better specs than anything on the market, and docking to a real PC en...

It does fit with the 'hotbar spaces as a resource' subtheme that's been emerging lately. I wonder if the bonus stacks?Six wrote: the hotbar thing ties in well with the recent changes to requiring arrows on the hotbar affecting your bow.

I wouldn't say it's shrinking. What I said is that for some people that enjoyed it before, it's no longer really for them. The new hardcore nature has actually attracted an entirely different crowd that may have not been into it before. We see this in multiple areas like some of the new video serie...

Re: New Release! (BTW V4.89)
I think people are assuming that based on the "must find wheat!" vanilla impulse more than anything else. It's an interesting design problem particular to modding when you're trying to counteract people's preconceived notions of how the game plays. I don't think I've run into that before....

I get so confused following these forums sometimes. I thought for sure the shears on oysters was a joke that had played itself out, but now it's in the mod. The method of counter balancing this doesn't involve booties by any chance, does it?
