Re: Are villages loaded always?

cauldron would always cook the food inside. a stoked cauldron when non in a loaded chunk would cook the food instead of rendering it into fat. Didn't flowerchild add some code tu turntables so they don't activate if they are too close to the edge of the loaded chunks to avoid redstone circuits brok...

Re: The wonderful Sophie's Choice of mod updates

I ussually re-seed if a change is made that makes me feel that my base is cheating. For example, when hardcore buckets became the default option, my base was completely full of water sources that made keep using that base feel like i cheated those in. My next reset was made when steel was changed to...

Re: Are villages loaded always?

If i remember properly, items despawn differently only if dropped by you dying.

Normal despawn: item despawn after 5 minutes loaded

Player death drops despawn: items despawn after 20 minutes regardless if they are loaded or not.

Re: Are villages loaded always?

I did some testing with this on a superflat world and while items wherent despawning in my makeshift village, the cauldron that I putted in it was cooking the eggs even while I was completely away from it. Looking more into it I found this video, and while I didn't really get the whole explanation, ...

Re: Hardcore Spawn

I've never found the end battle to be unfair if you are prepared well enough. You just need the ender googles, with some extra ones in case they break, a few stacks of potions(health, regen and strength), a composite bow(don't remember right now if you can enchant it with the regular enchanter, it's...

Re: Five Years Worth of BTW Creations

That's a nice Soul Bottler. for mine I went for a more compact, waterless design. https://i.imgur.com/uX2d7DC.png https://imgur.com/a/nz59j Pretty straightforward. Ground netherrack goes to the normal dispenser on top, urns go to the block dispenser on the right and output is in a couple of hoppers ...

After getting arround 10 iron ingots I setted to explore a bit to find pumpkins to start a chicken farm. I found the pumpkins, but I lost the way. Luckily I had an iron pickaxe with me, so I just treated it as a hardcore spawn with a few advantages and start from scratch. An iron pickaxe makes a rea...

Re: Form vs function in early-mid-late game

Interesting that you jump right to fortress hunting. I'll usually wait for better armor before I start doing that, I always find it too easy to die in the nether otherwise. I do the same, but my nether exploration consist of a lot of tunneling with very short peeks to find soulsand. And then i sear...

Re: Extended block IDs. Any objections?

Well I don't use any addons. So if from the technical side there's no issues and it will make the mod better (no pun intended), i'd say go for it. EDIT: In fact, the other day, while looking at the BTW canvas of the difrent dimensions I remembered the original discussion about the extended ids and t...

The main diference from spacechem is that instead of makin rails for two grabbers you put any number of mechanical arms and program them independently.

Re: Book Recommendations?

Nausicaä was great. But here are my recomendations: The Kingkiller Chronicle by Patrick Rothfuss. The story is nothing new, the typical medieval fantasy story. But the writing style of the author makes the book to stick to your hands until you finish it. The first one, 880 pages in 3 days. And some ...

I wasn't making a point, i was directly anwering the question. Stating that playing with a keyboard causes me no discomfort.

Re: The controller thread (HOTAS, Steam Controller, etc)

Do people really enjoy playing *any* game with a keyboard? To me, at this point a keyboard is like an extension of my own hand. When I sit in front of my keyboard at my job my hand goes instantly to the wasd keys until I realise and correct the position. So yes, i enjoy playing games with a keyboar...

Metro and Wolfenstein looked interesting. The last night had a great look. I hope the game is actually interesting.

About the shows. Microsoft was pretty interesting with a huge variety of games. And ubisoft was surprisingly not embarasing to watch. EA was duller than ever.

Re: Ice (and how you can't really place it anywhere)

More than the speed was the fact that you can use it to make infinitely long whater chanels for items without having to drop every 8 block, removing vertical considerations when delivering items arround your base. Now that i think about it, with hardcore buckets is not that easy a feat to do that now.
