Re: What is BWF?
Given that the additional log is legitimate, I find it rather interesting that slowpoke thinks an outburst in a private sub-forum and the improvement of a feature that has been stolen from inspired by BTW in the first place justifies the full-blown copying of BTW to press it (it's functionality) int...

Re: What is BWF?
Theory vs reality.. it is the same story everywhere. My Database-Professor repeated like a mantra that there shall not be JOINS over more that three tables if one of those holds more that 10k Datasets. Guess how shocked I was when I found that there were JOINS in production over ~5 Tables of which a...

Re: Fight the good fight banners
I guess it is good then that the Borg-Banner has neither 'No' nor 'means' in it! ;)

Re: Fight the good fight banners
There is a Theory that they did remove the banners from people who did post in the vMC thread on the last x pages. Since my last post was on page 5 or so I may have slipped trough the net.

Re: Fight the good fight banners
This is no general removal. I do still have the Borg-Banner in my vMCF-profile but I wasn't as active as other members.

Ironically the video (from which the "Ich bin ein Ausländer" comes) is unavailable in germany due to copyright infringement.

Re: What is BWF?
What I find rather hard to get is: how could they expect this to work in the first place? I mean even if they would have had a fully working 100% feature copy of BTW how did they expect this to put FC out of business? Per design a copy will be not up to date and not as awesome as the original. FC ha...

Re: What is BWF?
Yes but it would still take longer than what a week or two? The only way I can find the speed plausible is if they are doing what I tried to describe with the homework analogy like you said too.
And I guess this is not the work of one but at least a small team.

Re: What is BWF?
Let's face it, that particular thread really had run its course. Yes it did. On Topic: (What is BWF?) So what is it? Is it a remake, an interface layer, a RTE, a modloader which can load modloader mots into forge, a reviewed copy of someone else's work (like altering the homework just enough so the...

Re: Morvelaira's News Compilation
I hope they will fix it so you can build a usable railway through nether portals .. does it work if one blocks any other spot but the railway?

At first I didn't even spot the difference. When he said "Diamonds .. get .. some luxury rendering" I did expect partial transparency or high definition textures.. This is Like:

Re: Highschool punishment.
Is it legal to sentence pupil to work in the USA? Because any kind of punishment has been taken away from the hands of teachers in Germany. No extra homework, no extra chalkboard cleaning, no detention,.. I got the impression that exclusion is the only option left. And that is a very bad choice (the...

Re: Dinnerbone in BTW MCF thread
Homeworld is a good example. I loved it so much that I took a huge part of it into my own Browser (RT)S. Dawn of War is still one of my favourite RTS games Supreme Commander (until including Forged alliance). While SC2 has its highlights it lags complexity. I used to play Brood wars a lot. Ground Co...

Re: Dinnerbone in BTW MCF thread
Same thing is valid for a lot of games.. Quest objects glow, lootable bodies are marked, Build-in Questfinder points you right to the spot, RTS is dumbed down to mass=win, FPS.. is there anything but CoD anymore?

Re: Dinnerbone in BTW MCF thread
I still enjoy the supercomputer videos.. but the become rare these times. It is useless, especially in relation to the mod's existing functionality through the Infernal Enchanter. I do understand this and I did not say that the slap was not deserved. At the time it felt like the usage of one calibre...

Re: Dinnerbone in BTW MCF thread
They are already adding a new mineral to the Nether! Why not just implement this whole analog thing with that. Call bluestone and and leave my redstone system alone. They would have to recreate the existing mechanism within the new one. Then a converter would be needed to allow Redstone-Input block...

Re: Dinnerbone in BTW MCF thread
I do hope we will get to know the result of the potential PM-chat. @Anvil becoming the "dead weight" While I understand the design aspect behind the choice I personally found removing all functionality from it and then calling it useless a bit hard and a very loud slap to the face. @Redsto...

Re: Dinnerbone in BTW MCF thread
While the one sentence answers are disappointing he is still a representative of the game's company. And everybody is watching this so I guess he is even under more pressure to "walk the line". He can't just say "Oh yes, we fucked up how would you like us to undo the damage?" But...

Defining the "Standart" BTW-Server Setup
I'm hosting a low population Server (vMC and BTW only with 'as is' configuration) for my friends and myself on a AMD 4200 dual core with 3Gigs RAM running Ubuntu. And it is facing massive performance issues (regular freezes, crashes when entering/leaving the nether, unloaded chunks, async-player pos...

Re: problems with a server on linux
I still say that it's something on the route Internet <-> Router-NAT rule <-> Server <-> VM Network mirror <-> MC-Server-Deamon If you just want two players, why do you not install the windows MC-server-version on your PC, configure a dynDNS for your dynamic IP, setup a NAT rule on your router and l...
