Re: Hardcore Silverfish *SPOILERS, CHEAT FREE*
Let me share some more.. My village is build next to a tower made by MC Dungeon . I know that tower had silverfish in it because I ever setup any Beacons. But soon after installing the latest BTW update, the silverfish got real aggressive, it was raining silverfish. They have infested Stone Bricks I...

Re: Hardcore Beacons *SPOILERS, CHEAT FREE*
Finally got a couple beacons built on my server at spawn, and was eager to do some full research on them with the help of friends. .. I did some experiments as well. I detail our findings regarding the obsidian beacon below. We have a massive amount of obsidian thanks to major excavation project, s...

Does anyone one know if the Wither destroy any Ores as it uncovers them? I'd love to use a Wither as a tunnel widening tool..wirer wrote:no kidding. i pop the Wither in an underground room with an army of iron golems. uncovers 3 iron veins
But I don't want to loose any ores it finds.

Re: "The End" sure lives up to its name.
My first trip to The End when about just as you have described. BTW gave me a reason to even go to the end. Otherwise I didn't see a point. BTW does give you tools that will help you, I leave you to figure out those on your own. Preparation helps. But do not take the kitten sink with you.. You will ...

Re: Finding "the alternative to mycelium" (Spoilers)
Glade I'm not the only one looking. My tests: I also tried throwing stuff in the cauldron. I did learn that dung will turn spider eye's into foul food. Thought that was odd. My next idea was to use a soul urn on mushrooms in the nether. No dice. I've also tried other combinations. Like Nether Wart, ...

Falling edge detector.
Very useful, how else can I detect changes in state?
Took me a little bit to remember how to use it, from the electronics class I took as a kid.
Enables most of my Redstone machines to react, and reset themselves.

Re: Hardcore Beacons *SPOILERS, CHEAT FREE*
Latter today, I will be building my first, and second Beacons. I've collected 6 heads, now I just got to kill a wither. Not sure what types of I will be building. Probably Hellfire, and Iron in the nether, so I can continue working on my Wither skeleton farm. I have some wild speculation, compasses ...

Re: Vanilla Minecraft News Discussion
Yeah, don't get too excited, as the comparator being used to detect inventory contents is already on my list due to it having no in-game justification, and that will likely include the jukebox functionality as well. And I'd agree with you. That functionality belongs on another block. I'm going to c...

Re: Vanilla Minecraft News Discussion
Here is one thing from this update that I like. Comparators can now be used with jukeboxes. Output signal strength relates to disk number. It is an rather odd way of implementing a selector switch. I'm not sure that I would have given this functionality to the Comparator. Why Mojang has chosen to ov...

My initial thought is that those black lines look very heavy. Tone down the black outlines. Seeing as not every block as them the ones that do, really stand out, they just look odd to me..
I am d/ling it and checking it out. I'm looking for a 32bit t/p.

Re: Flower's Dev Diary (Week of December 31st)
All of the following is simply an example: Let's say, after playing BTW, I started a mod in a similar vein of Better Than Wolves but called it MechaniCraft. I like the way Better Than Wolves includes ways to automate processes by using mechanical power etc... I basically make my own tech tree but t...

Re: Vanilla Minecraft News Discussion
This is probably because it takes some work to add the button to the options screen; at least more work than just adding the config option itself. <Programmer Ranting> Have looked at making my own GUI for a mod, I can confirm. It's a pain, and non trivial to add a simple button. Because Mojang is n...

Noir your Machine Designs are awesome. I've learned so much. Thanks for the Wheat Farm design. Re: Better With Wheat, Add-on [Exploratory Discussion]
A few suggestions.. I'd reexamine your motivations for this mod. I'm not sure that anyone would really care for a mod that adds realism to Wheat farming. Take a look at your world, look for areas that you feel could use another challenge. For example once an auto hemp farm is made, well, I tend to o...

Re: What is BWF?
I just don't see BWF as a serious competitor to BTW. At best it can only be a cheep copy. Sure they can copy some game functionality. However, I doubt they get BTW's game design. And it's that game design that provides the fun. In fact the desire to use other forge mods will invalidate that game des...

Re: [WIP] Nick's handsome tools
Interesting! This will all be soulforged steel only, right? If so, I think it would provide an interesting niche set of tools which I would use when constructing things, vs when I would use say the Mattock for regular mining operations. If it's not for just soulforged steel, why? By the time someon...

Yup, it's assembly but for the java virtual machine, ie JVM. Java is really cool in that lots of things compile down and run on the JVM.EdzyWhat wrote:And a quick question from an interested academic who has never gotten entrenched in java: is bytecode just really low-level stuff, like a version of assembly?

[WIP] Nick's handsome tools
So some of you know that, one of my favorite mods was Raust's RBD Tools Mod . Thus when it didn't get updated for 1.4.x I was very sad, but motivated to write my own version. So what do these tools do? All of these tools can place blocks from your inventory. You place a block by right clicking with ...

Re: Connected Textures Mod Discussion and Information
Ok, guys here is my assessment. Adding Mod support to CTM or creating a mod to apply Connected Textures would be difficult. References to "terrain.png" are hardcoded in several places. CTM was written with out considering Mods. It would require an architectural change to CTM to add mod sup...

Never mind I found the source code it's in mcpatcher's github. Tonight I will give this a look and get back to you. I'm not making any promises I've no clue how much time it would take. It might be easier to just wait for the new tenderer.
