Re: <pours one on the curb for timber and stone>
I think it's difficult to reconcile treating people nicely with being in direct opposition with what they're saying, and knowing that you have to be in opposition to it in order to continue working effectively. It's very hard to escape the sensation that they are in some way trying to attack you an...

Re: Next generation consoles.
I've just got my hands on a Playstation for the first time - I've owned both XBoxes, a Wii, Game Cube, every piece of (commonly available) hardware Sega ever made and PC's, a Neo Geo, Amigas, MSX and I started my gaming and indeed my career on a Dragon 32 (Which makes me feel really old!). Also pret...

Re: New Release! (BTW V4.70)
Effort and planning? All you need to do is place two dirt pillars next to each other and hop back and forth between them. Costs a bit more dirt, but well... if you're going to leave the pillars behind anyhow, you apparently have plenty of dirt anyhow. Well, I did say "discourage". It's st...

"Does anybody here have any experience with reporting fraudulent/copyright infringing apps on the playstore? " Yes, and apple are basically not interested. It is an exercise in frustration - my advice, treat the istore like pirate bay, it is a lawless, moral-less place and apple are only i...

Reasonably high end system here, but made a new world, seed TEST and ran towards the same mountain, then across some plains before spelunking. All settings as per normal play. Re: Hardcore Modes impacting overall balence
The point is that to get all these resources you have to leave the establishment. Which means time spent outside, away from your base, not inside your base being productive. So why not play on peaceful? If you never leave your base, mobs are irrelevant to you anyway, then you don't have to worry ab...

I still don't understand how a reasonably experienced player can sit there, knowing what happens as hunger approaches and still manage to starve to death. Maybe I'm just really good at this style of play, maybe I've just been really lucky since the new mechanics were added but honestly, the only tim...

Just remember, when splitting labour on a co-op server to make sure every one has an interesting game - so many people divide it up like jobs, which ends up with some poor saps being lumberjacks or stripminers

Haha, I missed that earlier - that you haven't realised that villages close to you are abandoned indicates one of two things - either you have not played the release of the game you are criticising or you have played it but cheated at the beginning of the game. What you are doing is known on this fo...

You may wish to check up on the history of agriculture and animal herding. Agriculture was born in Arabia, shortly after (in the historical sense) the first humans left Africa, yet the nomad animal herders have left cultural artefacts pre-dating the change in the sea level which allowed humans to le...
Re: Stardrive
The guy has said he's going to try to fix it before release so I'm very hopeful he can get that done! Unless he has written a propriety compiler, it should be a fairly easy fix, depending on what language and implementation he is using.

Take this with a big old pinch of salt as I have not seen your post in IRC but I do want to say that it is only fair to FC and the rest of the community to be REALLY careful with how you introduce yourself. Put yourself in his shoes for a second, he is the sole caretaker of a huge mod, played by god...

Re: Absolute Beginner's Guide to Surviving Better Than Wolve
Feels like this process would consume a lot more hunger and tool durability depending on how high you build it. 6 blocks is plenty high enough, and use dirt so you can knock them down with your fists if you must - or use the nearest tree of course, but to be honest if jumping 6 times is enough to k...

One addition I would make is that digging a hole to spend the night in can be dangerous when you emerge - safer to build a single block dirt tower with a 3x3 cross on top for spider proofing and space to place a workbench/oven

I definitely want to avoid indicating mob type. Just be aware that many mobs, make a very distinctive noise regularly and it is this noise which betrays their presence: Spiders and Cave Spiders make a screech every few seconds Slimes and Magma cubes "footsteps" are really distinctive Skel...

Actually it's fine if you save, quit to menu and load when you start lagging. It's an annoying work around but it works. That, to me makes a game unplayable!
