Re: Southpark Minecraft episode

Is it wrong that I thought the best line in those promos was "we have a 100 oz of silver"?

In all seriousness though, that's crazy and cool.

Re: So this is new (Steam Controller)

@Benanov Like I said, really like the idea of decoupling gaming from windows... unfortunately I just don't see how this will do that, unless some of the systems manufacturers offer as "Steamboxes" will be direct replacements to desktop PCs in price and performance. I suppose there is the o...

Re: So this is new (Steam Controller)

This thing looks like it'll be very difficult to exercise precise control and intent with. Especially with the removal of any form of buttons on the d-pads. You can't replace keyboard and mouse on the PC until you can actually replicate that level of control and intent. On the topic of Steambox, as ...

Re: Strategies You Use to Find Your Way Home after HC Spawn?

In one of my last worlds (several months now) I found that HC Spawn was rather erratic in where it placed me, but tended to occur in clusters. No idea if that's the algorithm or not, but I found this allowed me to start building up a second base at a new spawn (or close to) with the intent that this...

Re: internet explorer, my old enemy

I'm surprised a website actually REQUIRES IE to function though. 99.999999999999% of the web prefers anything but IE (and Opera sometimes). At least 20% of the people still use Internet Explorer as their main browser. Besides that, IE9 and above are actually really quite good. Problem is most users...

Re: Best use for early game pistons.

@OldMarriedDude If I recall correctly, the Buddy Block was FC's answer to people exploiting Pistons to create that kind of switch in vanilla when they first came out (pistons that is). Of course, in vanilla almost all interesting contraptions still require that exploity solution since there is no bu...

I gave up on branch mining until after the crucible. Fortunately, if you find an abandoned mine (or search for one) you'll have more then enough iron for armor (if you're so inclined). These days my favorite finds are ravines though. Although extremely dangerous when you first find them, the shear a...

i'm with you on that gun fight scene FC. that was some poor directing to get a cliffhanger, which was weird when there was a perfect and natural cliffhanger 3 minutes later. <snip> Keep in mind that this is a TV show so they're on fairly tight length limits. 3 minutes later (or sometimes even 30 se...

I thought of something like this about 10 years ago for the PC. If I recall, 5 years ago someone built it. Didn't sell well.

As for phones... why can't I get my super small Dick Tracy wrist watch cell phone? All I want to do is make calls on it and have an address book. Is that so hard to do?

Yeah, was rather a shame really (the wall of complaints). I'd guess people were expecting a solution that was lower in the progression tree, which is why they're complaining. I personally thought his solution was going to be along the lines of forcing your coop partner to commit hari-kari to respawn...

@FC I could go into a long tiatribe about the lack of morals in small communities (Mod Comms for instance) being a reflection of society, etc... but I'd rather scrounge up enough denaro to donate to RTH when you start up on that one ;) At the ToU, if Mojang had wanted to enforce that aspect of it, t...
