Mobfarm platform design

So I'm at the point in my singleplayer world where I should really build a mobfarm for all the delicious goodies I won't need to hunt for again. I'm lacking a good spawn platform design that preferably emphasizes vine trap efficiency as I'm not producing those extremely quickly. I haven't decided ho...

Re: Brown Mushrooms

Might be a Hoe-first vs. Pick-first thing. People who pick hoe as their first iron tool usually end up getting sustainable chickens and eggs long before brown mushrooms, which is irrelevant by the time they have more iron for an iron pick and go diamond hunting. (I'm a hoe-first person. ) Pick-first...

Re: Your favorite weather

As someone who lives in a tropical country, the choices of weather tend towards hot or wet. Neither of which is particularly comfortable.

Post-rain does make for a nice and somewhat cool time though.

P.S. What is a season? Is it edible?

Re: Nether piston pigman trap

This is what I mean: [P] [\] _ [_] [\] [_][_] [_] [P] [_][\] _ [_][_][\] I'm trying to apply this design for my own nether mob trap but the redstone torch in red keeps powering the piston below it. Is that right or should I have another solid layer in between? I hear tripwires are a cheap and hopef...

Inside. The glowstone breaks the cactus when it grows, dropping into water channels that run beneath the whole farm: http://i.imgur.com/ETGuuyN.png Fences work as well in place of the glowstone and are probably slightly more efficient(due to not blocking the way for cactus to fall). hope that bit o...

Re: Optimal Melon Farm Layout

This is the format I ended up using. Not as space saving as some, but an easier patter to remember and on the eyes. Each seed has 4 blocks available to grow and you wont get 2 steps attached to same block. M= Melon seed P = Pumpkin seed http://i.imgur.com/gUutgcS.png Colour me impressed. If I ever ...

Re: Optimal Melon Farm Layout

Not sure if melon spawning speed is affected by number of free dirt spots around it, so I've got two ideas here. If dirt spots don't matter: SSSSS ddddd which is basically a row of stalks and dirt blocks. If dirt spots do matter: _D_ DSD _D_ cross formation tiles. same idea as vanilla sugarcane/reed...

Re: BTW Mempries as 4 Year anniversary aproaches

I started BTW after a muckup with Forge on my client basically made my modded world unplayable. BTW: Incompatible with Forge quickly came up on the list of non-forge mods. This was MC 1.2.5, some time before HC buckets. And very long before it dropped modloader and compatibility with a lot of mods. ...

What buggs me is that he's a crazy hardcore MMO (guildwars2, diablo3) player but he can't stand 30 minutes of BTW because it's too hardcore Not too hard to understand, I think. MMOs have a large economy, allowing people to get what they want/need with money/farming time. Minecraft on the other hand...

Trying to Share BTW (and failing)

Have you ever tried to introduce BTW to a friend or family member, only for them to not like it, which makes you sad and drains the fun out of playing BTW?

I've kind of just gone through that and it really burns me out.

Even when you're not playing, BTW can be hard sometimes.

Re: how much time until a SFS beacon generates blight?

I dunno how efficient it is, but blight can be used to do initial deforesting of a jungle.

Give it time and a decently large amount of grass.

Re: First Iron Tool: Pick or Hoe?

I figure that hoe is most important for the first iron tool. Its easier to get to than an iron pick. Reasons: 1) Self-sufficient food: farming pumpkins/melons for seeds->eggs. 2) Hemp: getting enough hemp to make a windmill is a decently long journey. the earlier the start, the better. 3) Windmill: ...

This Bridge I made with stakes and string So I'm sort of addicted to meaningful aesthetic uses for stakes and string. They make for very nice suspension cables. Note: string does not obstruct movement. Therefore, you can walk/jump off the bridge easily. last picture is my hoard of string and stakes...

Possibly server commands(for /telling people stuff)

I always build roads. Everywhere. By day three I'm occasionally challenging wolves and making paths through forests, tundra forests, plains, mountains, etc. And bridges. I have a tendency to favour tunneling in the nether and popping down portals every 2 or 3 sections into the side of the tunnel. I...
