Re: How to best find the first nether fort?
The roof does sound like a good place to tunnel, and I'll try long arms if I have the presence of mind to. Hopefully that'll keep me alive to my next fort.

How to best find the first nether fort?
My last few runs of BTW have been all quite healthy, breezing through the prenether portion with ease. However, tracking down the nether fort is always the killer for me, with tunneling ending in water-speed lava and being generally unproductive. Does anyone have good advice for hunting down nether ...

Re: New Release! (BTW V4.8942)
I'm quite glad now that there's a difference now between being able to sustainably use iron tools and having steel tools. I'm not sure what you can do with the lens pre-anvil besides lighting, but the reduced cost is a nice change. And of course, the diamond change will almost certainly have me runn...

Re: Tech-tree progression without dying
The first death that got me in my newest world was falling into a ravine that was exposed to the surface through a single-block hole. The other was the trolly lava from past versions flaming me in the nether fortress.
I don't have the best of luck.

Re: Chunk error and cows
MCedit has an entity removal tool; In the GUI the cows should appear as red rectangles. Draw a box around them, and look for the option "Delete entities". That should clear things up, just make sure not to hit your own stock with that.

In vioki's video, he fixed the problem by using mcedit to delete the corrupted chunks, and then have them regenerate normally.

Re: A BTW Riddle
This puzzle really reminds me of this one flash game, "You have 1 day". In it, there's this one puzzle with various wizards crossing a swamp with a torch, which is the same puzzle in format. It was quite a great game, requiring a lot of careful thinking.

It seems your changes to make minecraft a game are approaching complete realization. I think the only thing I'll notice at first is the fragile workstations, as I'm still emerging from the early game, but the rest looks fantastic too.

Re: Out of the frying pan (near death stories)
So at my first night, I was sitting in my scrape in the cliff, biding my time until the sun arrived. The sole light source for my little hole was from a single block so as to prevent the gloom from consuming me. Bored, I decided to close off the hole with a dirt block. Harmless, right? When I decide...

Re: Arg, fuck, kill (ranting at cpw)
My applause goes out to Kahr for standing up against forge's "Join or die" mentality. If we're lucky, cpw and Lex might notice they're causing a good bit of carnage upon the community, though them caring may be less likely. Given the community's history, though, I fear they may try and pul...

Re: Share your hardcore hunger stories
So today, I decided to try out 4.61, since Hardcore hunger was just introduced and it seemed like an exciting early-game obstacle. Food for me wasn't an issue, even though I spawned in the middle of a tundra. The numerous pigs and cows gave plenty of excess food and I was able to stash some extras i...

A soul sand hopper, the basic component of XP storage, contains XP until it receives mechanical power, at which point the XP empties out through the bottom to wherever you want the XP to go. XP storage isn't an item, it's a multi-block structure. The only way the player can carry XP is in their leve...

Fed wolf pups poop and heal when fed. Though feeding multiple items to a wolf before it poops still has no effect, and wolf pups can't jump more than half a block.

An unarchiver? 7zip is a good (and free) one that I use when moving around archives.
7-zip
From my tests, the installer works without internet either, so that should help too.
Good luck with the update!

If I'm not mistaken, the cauldron should be on the same level as the upper flames. In other words, try moving the cauldron down one block.
