Re: New Release! (BTW V4.64)

...but half-slabbing my entire branch-mine is not really an option. :P Huh? You go back into your tapped out strip mines? If you don't, why not design it in such a way that you can merely block off the areas that are finished. FC, what a brilliant way to start a Saturday! As ever, Thankyou! First t...

Re: Intuitive Updating's Intuitive

Yeah i just died and spawned at a random location. Thinking not a problem i'll just make iron armor and rule the minecraft again. Alas... Update made that way harder. Luckily next death (stupid skellies) brought me near to the old base.

Re: Flower's Dev Diary (Week of Feb 11th)

Ok, I just had my first real experience with starving to death in game under Hardcore Hunger, and man, I just wanted to say, was that ever fucking cool if I do say so myself :) Hopefully this does not mean that it's that hard that even the master of the mod with world that is filled with auto-farms...

I think he means the ability to dispense (read: use from dispenser) bonemeal. Thus standing and spamming seeds at bud-enabled ground + piston would auto farm very quickly

Re: Flower's Dev Diary (Week of Feb 11th)

I don't like when the code limitations leak into the game (e.g. block ids, etc...) but you FC seem to find ways around stuff in awesome ways. Never thought that this bug would be fixed. Great job!

Re: Place your bets : rampant speculation on the new feature

One thing I can't help but think: For this to be on the level of hardcore buckets, It would have to be something at least as ubiquitous and important as Water mechanics in a water transport based industrial mod. The things on that level I can think of are: Caves(And like structures), Ores/Resources...

Anyway - new guess - trees self seed or wild animals breed.
That would make it easier and would not encourage anything.

My guess is some passive monster seeking (e.g. they always slowly tend to come to you)

Worse? Did other hardcore changes made anything worse? Imo not really. More interesting and immersive sometimes harder, but never worse.

Edit: also silverfish are a very good example of idea that is just thrown into minecraft.

Re: Vanilla Minecraft News Discussion

correct me if i'm wrong (i know nothing about chest behavior or coding) but maybe the chest should have been coded like this. make a single block chest and when you want a double chest craft it in the table using two of them. when you destroy a double one you get a double chest. this way you don't ...

Re: (un) official 13w01a snapshot disscusion

Imo minecraft team should have concentrated all their efforts on mod api (how good it will be is another question) and then add all features like this (gamechanging, design braking) as optional mods. The value would be twofold: you would have a choice (e.g. i don't like simple redstone integrated ci...

Re: Concept for a cartography mod

Simplest idea i had is this: craft a map- get a blank one. Using it shows a map as a fullscreen. Clicking with mouse draws a circle around that point filled with anything you see (i.e. higher up more stuff filled, hill obscures sight, not filled in etc...) Because you can click anywhere, you can mov...

Re: Concept for a cartography mod

I like the idea you are going for in terms of actually having to survey to make maps, but making an entire mod to add it is kinda pointless in my opinion. I only say this because I plan on using stakes and torches to aid me in making real maps of my bases on graphing paper. I don't think you can ad...
