I think the idea of the damage and health penalties is: don't let yourself get that low.

I'm fairly sure that compasses have never pointed to the spawn set by a bed? Anyway, your compass points to your ORIGINAL spawn point, hence why it's clever to settle close to your spawn point when you're able.

I don't think I've ever played without hardcore buckets since it became on by default. I adore the challenge and ingenuity it inspires; slapping down an infinitely flowing stream of water from a bucket just feels wrong now I'm afraid.

Monster spawns are always pretty darn high in deserts mind, damn that sandy flatness.

Well well, the seed "Hard-core-hung-er" spawns you on an island. With no trees. It's literally a 15x15 island with nothing but a few tall grass. Great work as always FC ;)

Nope, I always remember it being relatively lag free. It was much, much more fun when there was that colossal volume of ghasts. It was the noise more than anything that got to me after a while.
