Re: Keys and Locked Doors/Chests
I'm just wondering, how does this tie in with any other existing item in BTW?

The new IC version will probably have like half of that though :). He's doing a total rewrite.Haidaes wrote:Btw: In response to what you said in the forge thread, I'm pretty sure IC uses more block ID's than BTW. Aorund 67 in total, according to my last count :P.

Re: BTW and IndustrialCraft
The two mods have very different design ideologies man. It's not just a matter of tech level. I don't see BTW ever fitting with nano-suits or nuclear weapons. Yeah, I can't see you adding a lot of stuff that mod does. I just found it interesting to talk about, since the similarities in mission stat...

That actually made me think, how possible would it be to attract NPCs to your own town, so I can finally have a use for towns?finite8 wrote:Steve always had a dream of filling his town that he built himself with a Female only population.

BTW and IndustrialCraft
IndustrialCraft is another mod with the same design behind it. It has a tech tree, progression, etc. So much so, that IC would make for a nice endgame age for a mod like BTW. As far as I can tell, a merger mod would even be pretty easy. Almost all recipes in IC require refined iron, which is just re...

Re: Windmill balance
Yeah, I can agree with that, seems like a fine compromise, though I'm still sure there might be a correct nerf to implement too. What are the real world benefits/advantages of wind vs water energy?

Re: Windmill balance
I do agree with the OP on one single point, it might be worth it to nerf the water wheel somehow, to get choice between water wheel/windmill to be more balanced. This thread's particular idea feels like a shoe-horn option though, I'd go for an entirely different nerf and only if you can find a decen...

Re: Minecraft Forge - do we need it?
If it can unify the mod process for a lot of mods like Modloader did and provide a merged version with Modloader, this is going to be pretty great.
I'd say that if it allows BTW to run base-clean, that'd be more than wonderful.

Re: Bellows ejecting dropped items from block in front
Well, I'd add it to the overarching idea of having ways to transport items around without having to resort to water. To me, that's one of the things I really want to see in the future of the mod.

for instance one may need to polish the diamond by slathering it in dung then using a sham (scoured leather) to add that final polish, for maximum transmitting quality! XD Yeah, I actually had a similar idea. Some sort of diamond polishing stone might be fun, but it'd need to serve other purposes t...

Re: Extractor
They seem at the same tech level but it would make stuff to easy to fast that is a bit of a point i am trying to make. Yeah, that's my point too. Spreading the small utility blocks out is probably good. a device that will pick items out of a chest and then deposit them in a different chest (or spew...

Re: Lens question
It's not exactly the same; you still only know that 'the beam is interrupted', not how many things, which mitigates the 'OP'ness. At any rate, it's not going to speed any automation up too much, most people use timers that pulse often enough to catch most new crops anyway. This just makes it a frac...

Hello just STOP We are in the beginning of the tech tree and you just aren't supposed to be able to do stuff fully automatic yet (wich a extractor would help a lot in) just have some patience and till that time you just need to get around with what is given to you and be happy! Re: Simplicity vs. Realism Balancing - Ex. Wind Mill
I have never even seen a slime and I've been playing since alpha, so yeah, water wheels require bellows, which is pretty far up the tech tree too.
Access to slime balls makes the water wheel easy to produce, but the glue recipe is just as complex as the windmill.

Re: Lens question
I stand by my point. If a lens is cheap, you can replace a setup of 8 DBs by one lens and one DB and get the same out of it. The lens looks like it's pretty powerful, as it can act as a detector for a whole row of blocks. Balance needs to be considered here, diamonds as prisms makes sense. I didn't ...

Re: Extractor
That wouldn't be necessary, we already have the hopper for that.
I do agree that this might be one of a few items still missing in the automation process, together with a new way to transport items that doesn't require glitchy water physics.

Re: Simplicity vs. Realism Balancing - Ex. Wind Mill
Now if it is desirable to keep things the way they are, even in light of my suggestion, it would be better to also modify the original processes to a similar complexity You're missing the point of the entire mod. The complexity of the recipes was created with the sole purpose of creating a "te...

Re: Lens question
The lens needs to be pretty expensive, otherwise it's just a hugely overpowered detector block. I'd say the mirror needs to be made from like 6 diamonds or so to make it fair.

Gilberreke, for saying something "doesn't make sense" in a game as illogical as Minecraft. That's exactly my point. Minecraft isn't illogical in itself and BTW's biggest strength is retaining intrinsic sense with vanilla. It's not because FC indicated he's in a slump that you must try to ...

Re: Frozen Foods
You say it's contradicted by vannilla minecraft, yet when there is a block on fire near an ice block, the ice block melts releasing water. water douses fire. I'm not saying the idea is a remotely feasible or good, just that your logic for dismissing it is weird. Sure, I already knew that was going ...
